Ugly match-point. Federer through despite sucking. Nothing wrong with that! Smart to play a short angled slice return to force an error. Tennis genius!!!

Oh yeah! Fat Dave! Slow Cow Molik had 3 pints for 3-0, now down a BP in the second. Ali, how can you root for Maria I started rooting for her at RG 2004 and when she won Wimbledon I was really happy. I love her never-say-die attitude though the screaming and fist pumping after defeating the world #1047 is a bit over the top, it's amusing more than annoying. She's not a fave, but I do prefer her to the Williamses, Henin, and Lindsay who are all genuinely annoying at times. It may seem like I hate Maria, but I don't. It's more that she signifies everything bad in our society about sports and women, which is not entirely her fault. Well, her eternally annoying shrieks, and stupid "pumping up" at the most ridiculous times is her fault... but, her being popular because she looks like a "model" or whatever, when she's very plain looking, is not her fault. Nor is the stupid hype she always gets, or the completely phony persona that her sponsors and money-sucking asshole Daddy force her to do. At least it's noticeable that she continuously improves her game, and doesn't duck tournaments... so, that puts her ahead of more than half the notable WTA players immediately.

What is wrong with you asking so many questions? I don't like her sour sponge look and her tennis. Satisfied? Not entirely. I am ambivalent towards Maria, but she arouses such revulsion from people I don't really get it. She's not noxious like Venus and Serena were, not arrogant like Martina was. The way you phrased the question to Ali seemed overly harsh. How could you POSSIBLY cheer for *yuck* MARIA? Like that was the most outlandish thing you could dream. Like he's a Holocaust denier. How could he have such bad taste, etc. And so I ask and you tell me you dislike her appearance and dislike her game style. Hardly the stuff of mortal hatred, hence I'm still groping for what could arouse that about her in you. i agree with this post. Anyone who's disliked by stupid racist williams fans is obviously doing everything right. oh and Maria looked hot out there today in pink. go Masha!

Pink never works with Maria's skin tone.

Gee Leena, it almost sounds like you are complimenting Maria. You made what I think are fair negative and positive points about Sharapova and that shows you can remove your dislike for someone and judge them as a tennis player and person. Atleast you are fair where Maria is concerned unlike most other posters. As far as Maria's tennis is concerned things are looking up for Wimbledon. She will have to play well to beat Safina who's a good clay court player.

Many of them were wrong and I tell you why: I was asking tongue-in-cheek because Ali cheered for Hewitt and Venus and was duly challenged by me for such an outrageous behaviour on this board. So this was just a follow up stuff. Satisfied now? Moreso.

Chloe, what does Leelee win? As far as tennis smarts go, it's too bad we can't exchange Leelee's tennis intelligence for Dementieva's because Elena would be a great player then and not just a tremendous athlete playing tennis.
