I have to think the injury is real...
It didn't make much sense for him to quit then. Yeah, good chance that Roger would have continued played well in the 4th and won, but it was too early to give up. Especially since Fatty knows he can come back against him.

He was serving crappy slow from what I saw, but my attention had drifted somewhat by that point.

I can't stand Ljubicic. Good thing he lost.
He complained about a ball right on the line at 5-5 in the tie-break and showed the wrong mark. Ugh.

It was Roger's moment!
He'll probably only make another 300 finals in his career. Selfish Fat Dave.

Muscle injury halts Nalbandian 09/06/2006 17:52 - (SA)
Paris - David Nalbandian will await medical tests before deciding when to begin his grass-court season after injuring his fat abdominal muscles and quitting against Roger Federer in their French Open semi-final on Friday.
The Swiss moved through 3-6 6-4 5-2 as Nalbandian retired after just over 90 minutes of play.
"It's impossible to know, I have to see a doctor and then we make a decision what to do," the Argentine said of his chances of fronting for the Halle event in Germany which starts on Monday.
Nalbandian, third in the world, has had trouble with his abdominals before.
He said this current injury occurred in his quarter-final against Nikolay Davydenko. He went to the court feeling fine for the Federer clash, but things soon deteriorated.
"I started well, much better than during the previous match," said the third seed. "I played a set and a half very well, and I didn't feel the pain at all.
"But all of a sudden, I felt a very sharp pain that was worse than during the previous match."
Nalbandian is well-acquainted with the problem. "This injury, I've already had two or three times already.
"Normally it happens in very long tournaments with very tough matches with many sets, where I spend a lot of time on court. You feel very bitter about it, having to retire like that, with that type of problem."

Batchy Ljubicic attacks Nadal Fri Jun 9, 2006 6:40 PM BST
PARIS, June 9 (Reuters) - An angry Ivan Ljubicic slammed Rafael Nadal's ploy of stalling between points when serving in their French Open semi-final on Friday.
"It's ridiculous how much time he takes between points," the Croatian fourth seed told reporters after his 6-4 6-2 7-6 defeat by the defending champion.
"I think the umpire should be more aggressive on that. Because they gave him one time violation but it didn't seem to change anything."
Ljubicic, however, did not question Nadal's superiority on court. It took the Croatian two sets to raise his level but in the end he was outclassed 9-7 in the third set tiebreak.
"It takes time to realise how to play and to adjust because it's the first left-hander (I've faced) in a while," he said.
"I had to adjust my serve as well. I think in the third set I served much better, much smarter. It does take a little time."
Ljubicic made no secret of who he would like to win the final on Sunday, when Nadal will face world number one Roger Federer.
"I would love to see Roger win it. I think everybody will because it would be nice," the Croatian said referring to Federer's bid to become only the third man to hold all four grand slam titles at once.
"He is the best player probably ever in tennis and it would be nice to see him lifting the trophy here."

You can tell this is journalistic shit-stirring from the full interview. For instance: Q. Was there anything that you were unhappy about with Rafael's play today? You looked a little bit unhappy with things at the end of the match.
IVAN LJUBICIC: Oh, no. I was just disappointed that I lost the match. [leading the witness] Q. You weren't worried about the amount of time he was taking between points?[/leading]
IVAN LJUBICIC: That's not my issue. That's umpire's problem. I am surprised how much they let him do it, because, you know, they give him one time violation, but didn't seem like change something. I think the umpire should be more aggressive on that because it's ridiculous how much time he takes between points.
...
Q. Do you have an opinion about what may happen in the final on Sunday, and do you care who wins?
IVAN LJUBICIC: Well, I would love to see Roger win it. I think everybody will because it would be nice. He is the best player probably ever in tennis and it would be, I think, nice to see him lifting the trophy here. Oh yeah...that is PURE HATE.

Clearly he's a hate-filled, Spaniard-hating, between-points-rushing, anti-lefty batch!
