She did get injured again, and eventually ended up having wrist surgery late last year. I think she spent months trying to rehab it before resorting to surgery; lots of people will do anything to avoid surgery (eg, Henin's knee -- finally had surgery after retiring). And since Dokic has never been one to stay in shape, to say the least, when she's out of the game, it takes a long time for her to come back afterward. I hope Edna K is right and she'll be back again next month to give it another try.

Speaking of possible retirements, Chak apparently said recently that she will announce soon if she's going to retire or try again after her (back?) injury. I'll be kind of surprised if she does come back.

Anastasija SEVASTOVA (LAT) has announced her retirement. 23 y/o, CHR #36, 1 SEWTA title (2010 Corswandt Open). Best Slam result 4R AO 2011. Oh noooo, I missed this at the time. I thought her comeback was going quite well this year She had a really nice game to watch - shame we didn't get to see more of it.

I think Severine lost today -- and I believe that's the end for her

. I hope Edna K is right and she'll be back again next month to give it another try. I read about it last week I think. Apparently she doesn't feel she's ready for Wimbledon, so she'll play some ITFs instead.

I had a look at Dokic's Domain and DokDi (I'm guessing s/he's quite a serious Dokic stan from other stuff I've seen him post) was sceptical about the article in question.

Farewell to Anne Keothavong: www.youtube.com/watch?v=_0Mhnqa0CesI am under no illusions as to her talent but I was always fond of her, and I'm pretty sure she'll transition smoothly into commentary - she was obviously being prepped for that during Wimbledon.

Wow! Didn't know she's 29, or that she reached top 50 a few years back! Good for her, then. She's got a nice voice; I wish she'd try commentating in the US instead of UK.

Aww, I liked Anne. And she was pretty good as an announcer. Her family has quality voices, I think it's her brother who's the umpire.

Chak finally calls it a career. Remember when Janie used to call her chalkie barbie? I forgot that she's still only 26.

I hope and assume that this bit was just a translation glitch: "So I realized as I do not want to go on living." Anyway, it's another sad loss for tennis, but because she's already been away so long, it's hard to think of her as a current player just now retiring. Hope she can do great things with some juniors. Oh, and let's not forget to say goodbye to Jill Craybas! Say what you want, she did beat Serena at Wimbledon one year, and not a whole lot of folks can say that. So, a satisfying career for her finally comes to a close.
