Ana can beat Venus but she must play well, and she probably won't.
Maria blew it. Oh well. I hope Rad beats Hant.

Oops, I forgot that women always choke.
LOL at Hantuchova. That ball was sooo in.

Ana not only has to play well, she has to first believe she can play her game and outhit Venus.
Not happening. Vee, easily.

Wow, what a day of like, really crappy tennis. I was watching What Not To Wear on TLC for most of the time instead.
Ana, shame on you for almost losing a set to Wozniacki!
Good show, Marta. I've seen you play qualie and first round matches at the USO, but never realized you could hit the ball that hard against a big girl! Well done. More winners than Venus, who will now routine Ana like 7-5, 6-3.
Unsurprising that the bottom quarter has become the choke quarter. Kirilenko, Hantuchova, and Petrova need this so much, they'll never get such a chance for a GS SF again. Nadia has done it before, but she knows she is the suck and not a top player and really fat. Radwanska is going places. I'm impressed with her belief in herself.
Was Kirilenko really up 6-1, 3-1, 30-0, and had only dropped 3 points on serve total until then? She'll have nightmares for the rest of her career about that. I'm happy for Daniela, she's worked hard and it's been 5 years since she was last in a GS QF. We all knew it would eventually happen again. But please, for a moment let's travel back to AO 2003. When Dani beat Patty Schnyder in the Round of 16, who would have ever thought it would take 5 freaking years to reach this round in a Slam again?!!! No one, no one in the world would have believed it.
And Kirilenko was hyped briefly. Around the time when she took Davenport to 3 sets in Melbourne and then had a lead on Sharapova in Miami (?) before blowing.
I hope Radwanska wins the QF, but Hantuchova has that ability this past year to tough out ugly matches. So I predict Dani. Radwanska would definitely produce the more interesting SF!

Berdych sucks. He really never will be elite, will he? He's becoming the Nicole Vaidisova of men's tennis, but maybe worse. At least he has a TMS shield, whereas Nicole can't reach finals.
If he ever gets it together he could have a Thomas Enqvist-esque career.

Also, Cilic you blow. I don't care if you beat Gonzalez. If you can't beat Blake, you don't exist to me.
OMG Tomas blows again. Lucie and coach want to stab him and eat him.

Wow. Just wow. When's the last time Berdych took a set off of Federer? He's never going to again, clearly.

Well done Berdych, well done.
But jokes aside, this was a crucial set for Federer. He has to win it in 3 to save some energy. Thankfully, Berdych made it possible.

Roger should be fine, energy wise. The Snotso match was long, but filled with quick points. Today is much the same.
What's strange is Roger's poor returning in the last 2 matches. And flat shots are eating him up. Nole has a good chance to beat him...
Berdych hasn't improved at all in the past few years. That's what's frustrating. He'll always be the dangerous guy who can beat everyone with his massive, yet very inconsistent game.

Hewitt has no chance of beating him. I take it you think Juanqui will. Yeah, it won't be Hewitt. But Ferrero or Ferrer could definitely do it. I mean, Djokovic will probably make the semis. I'm just sort of holding out hope for Juan. We'll see. Can one of those girls on Vodafone who is not Jankovic roll an ankle and retire so the real men's match of the day can begin?

I predict an all-Williams final. It does sound reasonable, but Serena has seemed to fold when it matters most lately. It will be interesting to see if Ivanovic puts up a fight, but as we know, her record against the Big Four is horrific, which is why she should not be #2. She just never beats Justine, Maria, or the Williams sisters. If she can beat Venus, she will race to the final, and she'll be #2, and then she will deserve it...sort of. Sharapova is a definite wild card. She's playing really well. I don't know what's going to happen at all! It's exciting. A fine tournament on the women's side -- for once.

I don't know what's going to happen at all! It's exciting. A fine tournament on the women's side -- for once. I completely agree. It's so exciting! 4 great players with legitimate chances to win, and all playing relatively well so far.

Ferrero vs. Ferrer soon to start. Hopefully Day 8 will finally get a good match. Hantuchova withdrew from doubles. Davenport will never complete career doubles Slam! Radwanska must kill Daniela.

I don't know what's going to happen at all! It's exciting. A fine tournament on the women's side -- for once. It will be an excellent tournament if all remaining players play somewhere near their best from here on in. Sadly I can easily Villiams v Ivanovic containing 63523 UEs, Jankovic folding to Silliams like 2 and 2...etc. We have been here before, basically. Ivanovic has to start beating the elite players somewhere, right? I'm just not heartened by the fact that she's already played Venus when Venus was really struggling with her game, and losing to anyone half-decent, and still failed to win so much as a set. Good to hear that Marta took it to Venus. Wonderful run A-RAD She is the only player in the bottom half to have a winning record - or indeed any wins at all - over Venus As for Berdych...I could see him making a couple of runs to Slam finals out of nowhere over his career, which will mostly be spent right where he is now.

Ugh, terrible and depressing game to give it back.
He wasn't broken once in the tournament coming into this match, and now twice vs. Ferrer in the first set. Obviously the best returner he's faced yet, but still.

Beautiful tennis from JCF to break for 5-3! What a comeback in this 2nd set. Now serve it out.
INCREDIBLE hitting in that game from both players. JCF smiled but winded after a long ass point to break, running down a drop shot. Ferrer got a code violation for cursing.

I doubted Ferrero's fire and desire down 5-7, 0-2. But wow he took it to another level after that! Good for him. His attitude looks positive, while Ferrer is crabby (common for him when losing, not necessarily meaningful). Ferrero's getting lots more cheap points on serve, obviously.
God, I hate how Ferrero and Youzhny can make me so nervous watching a tennis match. They kill me.

I forgot my Chris Fowler rant of the day. Earlier, before ESPN cut coverage, he obnoxiously, condescendingly laughed again and said, "Ferrero and Ferrer are sure be griiiiiinding away for while, hahahhaha, okay yeah bye now."

This Ferrero-Ferrer match is an epic. I can't pay full attention to Hewitt-Nole because I'm so nervous about this match I can't watch anymore. Star Sports went to cover RLA, and ESPN360 kicked me out, so no luck for me.
Please hold, Juanqui. Let's do this!!!!!!!! Vamos man.

Hewitt had points for a 2 break, 5*-2 lead. Now Novak about to level it at 4-4.
I like Novak, but I'm not sure I'm rooting for him.
