I like Sveta. So I don't know why I'm rooting so much for Jelena. She's got the old "je ne sais quoi", I guess. Plus, I saw her play in Philly. Yes, I remember your report on her match against Raymond. She had 2 MPs but couldn't convert them and eventually lost and was also injured but played on. It was almost 3 years ago now. It's fantastic how suddenly she stopped being a mental midget. Great win today and I really hope she can take out Dementieva.

Stunning!
In 2 days: After Beijing, I can't play anymore. Australian Open, I'll retire there. Or Indian Wells. Whichever is first, I don't really pay attention.

So No-Butt won the Barbie battle? I don't know how far the chalky one will go. I don't see what's special about her game, plus she's got one of those Bad Dads. She's Mary Pierce II, but not as powerful. Whereas Golovin seems like a player with a little bit of a difference. Despite her Florida ties, she doesn't strike me as right off the Academy production line; she's got a tennis brain. Maybe her two-steps-back phase is over now.

Lindsay's the top-ranked USian, and they go on and on about the importance for them of covering the Americans. They don't want to admit that they really just mean the American men and the Williams sisters -- plus Sharapova, whose place at the top of their coverage heap they don't even bother to rationalize.

Ian Eagle is an American sports announcer calling National Football League (NFL) games on CBS, New Jersey Nets games on the YES Network and hosts Full Court Press, a basketball talk show with former player Kenny Smith on Sirius Satellite Radio. Other announcing experience include NCAA Men's Basketball for CBS, Tennis for CBS, Army-Navy football games for CBS, Boxing for for CBS as well as NCAA Track and Field for CBS. He is a graduate of Syracuse University.
Early career
Eagle began his career by announcing football, basketball, and lacrosse for the Syracuse Orangemen. Following his graduation in 1990, Eagle began working for WFAN Radio in New York City as a producer. In 1992 WFAN gave him his own show. In 1993 Eagle was given pre-game and post-game duties for the Jets. 1994 saw Eagle's first year as a Nets play-by-play radio announcer. A year later he was made the TV announcer for Sports Channel, which later became Fox Sports Net New York. In 1997 WFAN made Eagle play-by-play announcer for Jets games.
Later television and radio career
Eagle joined CBS in 1998 doing announcing work for NFL and NCAA basketball. He continues to serve these roles today. Other CBS work includes boxing, The Pilot Pen Tennis tournament, the US Open late night show, and the NCAA Track and Field Championships.
Prior to joining the YES Network as Nets announcer in 2002, Ian Eagle served the same role for the Nets on the MSG Network. Since Marv Albert joined the YES Network prior to the 2005-2006 NBA season, Eagle's role has been reduced to a backup play-by-play announcer, filling in for Albert when his obligations with TNT's NBA coverage and CBS Radio's Monday Night Football and other NFL playoff games prevent him from being at the Nets games.
On XM, in addition to his daily talk show, Eagle does a weekly talk show, The Phil Jackson Show, with Lakers coach Phil Jackson.
Other announcing:
Voice of the announcer for NBA 06 for PSP NBA playoff announcing for NBA TV Hosts NBA Action, a weekly highlights and featurs show for NBA TV Annouces preseason New York Jets telecasts on WCBS-TV in New York Host of Nets Magazine, a look inside the New Jersey Nets for the YES Network
Trivia
Ian has often admitted that life was easier prior to the 1986 release of Iron Eagle the movie. In fact, many callers (including prominent sports figures) continue to call him "Iron Eagle" -- much to his chagrin.

Yes, the top ranked American. Who hasn't won a slam in 7 years. Is a big, lazy sloth. And everyone who saw the draw beforehand, knew there was no chance she'd get past the QF unless Justine lost a limb.

www.usopen.org/en_US/scores/schedule/index.htmlI should note that USA only has coverage from 7-9, tomorrow night. So, they can show wrestling. It's supposed to shown live at usopen.org at 7pm. And Tennis Channel supposedly has coverage at 9pm, but who knows with them. Wrestlig does way higher ratings than tennis, btw.
