Interesting that both Florian Mayer and Rainer Schuettler have decided to play here this week. Mayer's got Wimbly QF points to think about and I don't think this is the best way to prepare...

I don't know what the organiser did. It's weird that they play one week on grass, another week on clay and than back on grass in Wimbly. Anyway, Mayer, Schüttler and El Aynaoui were bit hit on Kids day there. Click on the link for a cute pic on El Aynaoui on kids day www.nordlb-open.de/Bilderalbum/ShowBild.aspx?BildID=1812

I don't know what the organiser did. It's weird that they play one week on grass, another week on clay and than back on grass in Wimbly. The schedule's been set since the beginning of the year. This was Mayer's & Schuettler's decision, not the organizers'. Besides, clay challengers have been going on all through the grass season. Thanks! Maybe there will be a pic of the elusive Bastian Gronefeld since he's playing doubles with Mayer.

Bastian Gronefeld, is he related to Anna-lena? Yes Older brother, who hasn't been nearly as successful as a pro.

Thanks! Maybe there will be a pic of the elusive Bastian Gronefeld since he's playing doubles with Mayer. They lost 6-2 6-4 But both Schüttler and Almagro won

Funny Fla won't be in Wimbledon, right? He was not playing quali and his entry ranking is not high enough for direct entry, isn't he?
edit: he's on the alt list but it will take another 6-7 players to withdraw to gain direct entry, I think.

Oh really? Haven't been following all the bumpkins lately. So what is his ranking? His latest is 95 but was at 120 at cutoff.

No chance to get direct entry with all current and future withdrawals?

No chance to get direct entry with all current and future withdrawals? Ulihrach is the last one gain direct entry after Moya withdraw. Next on the list Clement Kuerten Morrison Dupius Seppi Giles Simon N. Lapentti Gimelstob Carraz G. Lapentti Saretta Serra Guga won't play, Clement, Seppi, Simon, Gimelstob, Dupius, Morrison and Carraz play quali so with a few more withdraw, he may get direct entry like AO earlier this year.

Too bad Roddick isn't playing this week. His magnificient play could have come handy for our beloved Funny Fla just in time

What's weird is that Bastian lists himself as Gronefeld and Anna-Lena throws in the umlaut-subsitutive "e". You'd think they would get together and discuss this, for consistency's sake, and then follow a family policy.

You'd think they would get together and discuss this, for consistency's sake, and then follow a family policy. The family name is GRÖNEFELD so Anna-Lena's transliteration is the right one for English. I guess since Bastian hasn't had much of a career it hasn't been a problem.
