Great win for Juan Carlos! Escude will be tough, but hopefully it will be a good match.

Hmm... I'm on Escude's side here (nothing against Ferrero, but I like Escude and he desperately needs to pick up some points at Wimbledon), but I just hope he's fully fit. If he is, it'll be a great match, and an interesting test of just how suited the supposedly slower grass courts are to Ferrero's game. Depending on who's playing better, either one has the potential to win this match comfortably.

Sjengster, funny how you always track down Ferrero's cheering thread and cheer against him . Well, I like Nico Escude very much and I even put him as my Wimby winner on my wish list for this year. But it all changed after I saw the draw. Too bad they have to meet so early, but if they both play their best, then it will be a wonderful match to watch. And Escude's best on grass will probably be better than Ferrero's best on grass. But I suppose Juanqui's confidence at the moment will give him an extra boost.

I'm not holding out hope that Juan Carlos will win, I just want it to be a good match (ie, Escude doesn't just roll over him, or even vice versa). It has such potential, and that's all I'm asking. As for desperately needing to pick up points . . . I've given up on that line of thought. Look how much good it did for Michel

If he's a bit off, I give Juan Carlos a slight chance.

Today it's a great day!! JC made it into second week of Wimby!! Now he faces in a couple of hours to French Grosjean, former WImby junior champion, finalist at Queens', and owner of Nottingam event in the past, so he konws how to play on grass. Everything is against JC in this match, however I still feel he can win it! Good luck Juanqui!!!

After finish the match yesterday JC lost against the French, not a bad lose as Grosjean is more used to grass than JC Keep on playing JC number 1 is closer now!!

:laugh1: Lately I fell like talking only to myself, well that's great so I won't disagree Juanqui is closer and closer to number one however Federer's victory in Wimbledon will make that achievement even harder. Anyway good luck, he doesn't play this week though, I hope he can save energies to win in Sttutgart and earn a nice bunch of points!!!

So, I think Juanqui can get to number 1 if he wins Kitzhubel. Not an easy task but definitely achievable. Good luck to him, hopefully, his shoulder is holding up well.
VAMOS JUANQUI.

Vera you mean #1 in the entry rankings? He's #2 now and is #1? [well #1 for sure! nobody can take that away fr him ] That w be great if Juanqui could win Kitz and do it! Although I w love if Alex could defend his 2 titles Gstaad and Kitz... poor guy! BTW is Juanqui playing Hong Kong this year, do you know?? Curious... I have a theory...

Juan Carlos is defending finalist points in Kitzbuhel, so I don't think he'll get to #1 after winning there . . .

JC's 210 points from Kitz came off the same week Baldy had his LA points of 175 came off. That made out a 250 points difference between them. But LA got pushed back a week on July 28 this year so Baldy can't get any point on that week, and his next optional to fill up the ranking point is only 25 points from St. Petersburg. So that came to 275 points difference. If JC can win Kitz, he gets 300 points and past Baldy. Likely just for that week, but it's good enough at the moment.
Well, that's my calculation and I'm not sure if it's entirely correct so let me know if I'm wrong. I do hope it's correct, then JC will have a chance to get to number 1. (And yes, RF, I mean the entry system ranking. I don't think the Race #1 means much until the year end.)
He's not going to Hongkong bcos there's no tourney in Hongkong anymore. It got moved to Shanghai (or is it Beijing?). But some Thai fans said he's going to play the tourney in Thailand the same week instead, so I'm not sure where he's going. It seems that the schedule on his site and the commitment list on the tourney site aren't telling much, as we know they changed their schedule based on the circumstance, which it's indeed a good thing. And I think he goes where Carlos goes ;D. so it seems last year after USO.

I heard on the mosquitobites forum that he is going to play in Shanghai.
