;D For ILR. Since Jonathan doesn't play many ATP (or even challenger!) level events, what better way to keep track of the newest addition to the musical than his very own thread! To be updated weekly

From Steve G Tennis:
Player Profile -- 6/14/04 All hopes of British tennis fans, once again, are on Tim Henman to win Wimbledon. At present he is the only British player in the top 100! Greg Rusedski is still #2 but is currently #110 in the world and is the defending champion in Nottingham this week so stands to lose a bulk of his remaining points unless he can do well once again. #3 behind Rusedski is Arvind Parmar and now the #4 Briton is 23-year-old, Jonathan Marray. Marray is a tour veteran and has been a regular since 2000. His first futures title came back in 2000 when he won India F4 in November of that year. He wouldn't reach another futures final until September of 2003 when he won Great Britain F9. Marray had some occasional success but had been ranked between 500 and 800 most of his career. Here is a summary of this ranking history. But this year, that began to change. He started 2004 at #525. In February he reached just the third final of his career at the second leg of the Great Britain satellite. He then won the masters week and finished in a rare three-way tie for the points title. That moved him 130 spots to #401, a career high. He followed that up the next week with a quarterfinals appearance at the Wrexham challenger. In May he went to Uzbekistan and won the two events he played there...Uzbekistan F3 and F4. He carried that momentum into last week at Queens Club where he won his first ATP level match. He then defeated Jamie Delgado to reach the third round taking Lleyton Hewitt to two close tie-break sets. Now all of a sudden, Marray finds himself at #250 and the 4th ranked British player in the world. With his serve-and-volley style, he is a dangerous draw at Wimbledon, where he has been given a wild card. At the age of 23, Jonathan Marray is at the high point of his career. Is this just a hot streak, or is he just a late bloomer? He will be one to watch in the coming years to find out.

Great Britain #1 Leg 4 (Sheffield) - Indoor Hard (F) Jonathan Marray/Mark Hilton (GBR/GBR) d. (4) Flavio Cipolla/Alessandro Motti (ITA/ITA) 63 75
He manages to end the series on a good note. Good for him, because he really stunk it up in singles after doing so well last year.
