An emphatic 2-0 win which should have been much more. Gerrard was fantastic and scored both goals and had one (wrongly) ruled out. Pleasing really! Pic links in the photo thread

Hmmmfff. We got a terrible deal out of that and Im a bit annoyed but still, good luck to Michael.
Started off with a 1-1 draw at Spurs which was a bit disappointing, but I guess when you look at the fact we lost 5 of the last 6 games at white hart lane, then its not such a bad result.

Oh btw, England won 3-0 Goals from Beckham (set up by Terry ) Owen and Wright-Phillips. Ok, so for today. It almost was a disaster. The man who we met on holiday who said he could get us tickets still wasn't outside where we arranged to meet at 3pm, KO time. I was even thinking he wouldn't turn up. As it happens though, he turned up a few minutes later because he had been trying to swap tickets so we could all sit together. Bless him I immediately felt bad afterwards for doubting him! He went to all the trouble when he didnt have to. Anyway, it started off and we had quite a few chances, but didn't manage to put any of them away. City had very few if any, yet they scored just before the break. It was a silly mistake from Dudek who dropped yet another header from Carragher allowing Anelka to score. It's petty worrying! 2nd half was much better. Rafa must have ripped into them at HT We scored almost immediately. Baros had missed a few chances previous to this but took his goal very well. From then on, I was confident we would win. Gerrard scored the winner when Baros's shot had been saved by James. Everyone went crazy ;D I think we deserved to win. Baros was very bright today, played much better than he has done lately. Sami did well but didn't really have much to do. All in all I had a brilliant day as we got the 3 points!! Baros celebrating Gerrard's goal ;D Baros looking pretty foxy ;D the winner!! On a side note, my all time fave player Patrik Berger scored a wondergoal on my birthday Ahhhhhh. The number 23 in navy and middle.

Ohhh, Im so nervous, lots at stake tonight! Man Utd V Liverpool. This is so huge. And even worse, if we lose then Im going to get teased so much at college!! At least Craig supports Liverpool. Ooops :red: Not wanting to think about that!! Just over 2 hours to go!! On a sad note, Brian Clough died today of stomach cancer age 69 He was manager of Nottingham Forest and Derby county and won 2 Europen cups with Forest.

Its not as good as celebrating together ;D He was lucky though, he couldn't get the time off work and missed our appaling display. I wish I had missed it. Well truth be told Im a bad winner ;D You can be sure if we had won everybody would know about it! Thats just the way it goes. At the end of the day I guess its just a bit of banter I need to look at it that way!

What happened?

|
Post by ILR on Sept 20, 2004 18:59:53 GMT -5
Um, I dont actually know. It didn't look too bad. All I saw was somebody stamp on his foot (accidental) and he said he heard something snap, so he hobbled off after just over 30 mins. Apparently, its the same thing that Beckham made famous in the UK the metatarsal bone, broken.

Just another reason to be sad. I should be used to failure by now with my club team and my national side We've had a few trophies with Liverpool, but no major European titles or league titles.

As it happens Gerrard broke the bone in his foot over stretching for the ball, his studs caught in the grass and it snapped. I thought somebody had stood on him ooops :red: I wondered why people were calling him a pansy and saying that a blade of grass broke his foot. Could be out for 3 months now

Poor Gerrard So who will be the captain for the time being?

Stupid metatarsal bone Sami will get the captaincy.

Whoa, that's a helluva way to break your foot! Sounds like the roots of the grass is what got him, not the blades Sami

Yeah And now there are rumours he will leave in January if we dont do well. I hate this, I really do! I hate this sport sometimes Sami needs to play better than the other night. Shocking wasn't the word, worst game I've seen him play. But he's a true captain

Didn't you just get him a few years ago? Wow, didn't know the world of football was so fickle. I have faith that Sami will step it up in Gerrard's absence. From what you've said, it sounds like the last game wasn't good for anybody.

Post by ILR on Sept 22, 2004 17:51:08 GMT -5
Gerrard? No, he came through the academy.....hes been here all his life. But yeh, it is fickle. They're only saying he will leave because everything thinks he is too good for this club. Stevie has said nothing himself about going. We only had one player who played well. That was Xabi Alonso. His is the photo in my pic. What a cute kid he was

A 3-0 win against Norwich puts us into 7th place in the table with a game in hand. Things seem a bit better now, and best of all if we win that game in hand v Portsmouth we go above Man Utd in the table May not last long but it'll do for now! Goals by Baros, Garcia and Cisse ;D
