I also don't understand the talks about him being arrogant. Honesty and arrogance are different things, which some people just can't see. Well, to me there's been a subtle change in the interview style lately and he's come off a bit more conceited. Of course, the quotes can always be taken out of context or whatever. Maybe the year at the top has made him 'hard'. Who knows. I wouldn't say he's arrogant as a matter of it, though, since I don't know him. He'd have every right to be ego-driven, though, considering what he's achieved.

After the tennis clinic Erlich and Ram went to practice on court 1. It actually made me wonder how many doubles teams have a coach travelling with them. I never knew doubles coaches existed.
In the mean time Centre Court was being prepared for the final. Lahyani and the Danish umpire who was there all week were on court. They took pics of each other standing on the steps of the umpire's chair. I guess they like souvenirs. ;D
Since it was sold out I just stood behind the seats on the first level and watched from there. I didn't really mind standing all match long and had a better view then half the people in the Ahoy. They paid 36 euros and I was in for free. ;D
The first set started off with Federer saving a bp. Ivan had several break opportunities, but didn't break till it was 5 all. Rogi didn't play his best tennis, but as always produced some fine winners. Ivan was a bit erratic in the long rallies. He was smart enough not to go to the net that often though. In the second set it was Roger who played better and had break opportunities. He put the pressure on Ivan in the end of the second set and won it. Had that set gone to a tb, then I think Ivan would have won it. He just had something extra on court, perhaps more fighting spirit, but he wanted this win badly. The third set went rather quick and both players cruised through their service games. There were once again some great winners and nice rallies. In the tb Ivan had the mini break, but he couldn't keep it. People next to me already started talking about the beer Ivan would buy them. ;D At 4 all in the tb Roger's ball was given in while Ivan and even my friend and I thought it was out. He showed the umpire the mark, but didn't really protest. Then it was obvious who the winner would be.
I was rooting for Ivan and I hope he wins another title soon. He played well and fought hard all week. He had his chances and didn't take them, but luck was on Roger's side today. Had some line calls not gone in Roger's favour, the outcome could have been different. That's just an "if" and that of course doesn't mean anything.
Lahyani overruled several times and he does that so incredibly loud that it hurt my ears. ;D I love it how he points at the linesmen one by one and then pumps his fist to show them they're doing well and should continue that way. An Ivan serve hit the wall and then hit Roger's head. ;D Roger was cool in his speech, but I wish Ivan got to give a speech too. My friend will probably not work at the tennis next year, but that's still so far away.
It was the first time I went to a final, but I didn't really like the atmosphere. Too posh, ignorant and stupid for my liking, but I was there for the tennis.

He did it once so loud that he even frightened Ivan... ;D That one was funny at first but it could have hurt him really. They kept on showing the images for some time afterwards... Thanks for all your reports Ilhame and Francine. It's been a pleasure to read you everyday.

I also don't understand the talks about him being arrogant. Honesty and arrogance are different things, which some people just can't see. Or they just don't want to see is more likely. Federer isn't arrogant well not like many of the former players. Unlike Roddick he is actually well-liked among his peers.
