Tuesday Report:
Again, got there around 9:30 am. The first match on was Santoro vs. Carlsen. I don't know, the match was kind of boring. Santoro got everything back, pissed off Carlsen to no end, and it was over in like an hour. Carlsen was going nuts, yelling random crap in his native language for most of the match. I like his serve though.
The next match was Hantuchova vs. Llagostera Vives. I'm usually the first to kill the Dani hype after every win, but she's really starting to improve again. Her strokes were timed very well, and she obviously still hits with tons of power. But her UE's are really down, and winners are up. For anyone, that's a winning combination. A year ago, Nuria would have probably driven Dani insane. But Dani has gotten alot more consistent, and she can hit power shot after power shot and keep it in. I was quite pleased. But at this point, I still figured Patty would give her fits.
Kohlschreiber vs. Fish was funny. I can't even begin to describe how much Mardy didn't care in this match. I mean, he tried, but it was kind of a fuck it attitude. That being said, he made one of the most amazing shots I've ever seen in the second set. PK hit a good lob when Mardy was at net. He ran it down to the back of the court, and hit a backwards between the legs down the line winner. The crowd went insane for that. Mardy was cool. He probably could have come back in this too. He had 0-30 in the last game, and missed an easy putaway for 0-40.
Then, Dementieva vs. Douchevina. I've already given my theory about Bepa's future implosion, and I stick by this prediction. Dementieva looks really hot in orange. I usually don't think she looks that great, but damn...she was hot. The match was actually quite competitive. I don't remember exactly, but I think Dementieva screwed up a 4-0 lead in the second set, and Bepa actually had a point for 5-4. I don't see Lena's "new" second serve though. It's still a sidearm at 68 mph most of the time. That annoys me. But Alyona is really cool. I talked to her after the match, and she wasn't a bitch to me, which I was kind of suprised about.
Blake vs. Llorda. Ummm, I kind of forget about this match. The crowd was wild, but I remember like no details. No idea why, but it is three days later. Still, quite odd. Oh well, Blake must have played well, or something. I do remember his speech about watching tennis here, and wishing to play as a child. That's all though.
Davenport vs. Peschke first set sucked. I never fall asleep during a Lindsay match, but I was close here. Lindsay sucked in this set. She hit a ton of double faults, and just wasn't herself. But, she kicked ass in the second set. She started serving better, and cut down on her errors. I think the issue with her serve right now is that she's going for way too much on the second serve. There was not one below 85, and most were in the mid-90s. A few were at 102. I understand aggressive serving, but you're just asking for trouble there when you're playing your first match in two months. I'm amazed how fit Lindsay is though. Her legs are like Meghann's.

Wednesday Report:
Well, the match of the tournament up to this point was the first one on. Hantuchova vs. Schnyder was really excellent. Dani is playing at a top 15 level again. But anything higher is still bullshit, no matter what the fanchicks say. Anyway, I was convinced Dani would tank after losing a close first set, and then blowing 0-40 in the first game of the second, but she kept her composure amazingly well. That's probably what has improved most, her mental strength. A year ago, you know she would have folded. Her groundies are still really nice to watch. She was hitting so flat with tons of power today, it was great. If she could keep this form consistently, she might even be near top ten, since we all know how to get there these days. But she won't, because that's just not her thing. Patty is a freak, too. She kinda just quit in the last game. Her boyfriend is creepy. Smokes alot, doesn't shave, and looks like he hasn't washed in about a week. Gross. Dani looked really happy after she won. She was quite pumped. She and Patty had a nice smile and handshake at net. It seems like they get along well.
Then, I watched Meghann sucks losts to Anna-Lena. Sigh. I can't really call it a tank, but Meghann didn't try, at all. She just kind of stood there and banged serves. If they went in, yay. Wins point. If not, whatever. I'm not playing this point. She looked like she didn't care at all, quite different from her attitude against Dechy on Monday. I didn't get it. Anna-Lena doesn't impress me. Some of her errors were absolutely retarded, and she couldn't touch Meg's first serve. She needs to drop some pounds, too. She actually looked better when I saw her get killed by Mahree in Carlsbad than she did here. It was odd.
I don't recall the Blake match at all. But I watched it. This is odd, second Blake match that I've completely zoned out in. Bleh.
Chela vs. Davydenko was a great match, but I felt kinda bad for Nikolay. Chela was just hitting his forehand amazingly well, and Niko sucked hard in the first set. But in the second, Chela lost a two break lead, Davydenko was moving really well, and started hitting a few winners. I felt badly because the entire crowd was for Chela. I didn't get it. Nikolay didn't do anything to them. He was being nice on court and normal, and they were all shouting "JUAN!!!!!!!!!!!!111 KILL HIM JUAN!!!!!!!!" It was dumb. I felt like the only person cheering for Nikolay. Poor guy.
Mauresmo and Likhovtseva sucked hard. I removed myself from this match to go get ice cream at 4-1 Mauresmo, and when I returned it was 6-1 4-0. Mauresmo almost pulled a huge choke though. Up 6-1 5-0, it was 6-1 5-3, and Lik with two GPs for 4-5. But, she double faults. Shocking. Mauresmo wasn't too bad this match, her backhand was quite solid. But some of her errors were just idiotic. It was boring, and I won't continue.
Haas Rochus rocked. Poor Christophe. He could have done alot better in the third. Tommy sucked. Though, on BP against him he was always amazing, serving up an ace around nine out of ten times. It was really neat. Christophe is so cool though. He gets to alot of stuff, and he's just really fun to watch. Oli was watching him a few rows across from me. Though he was wearing a towel on his head, which I did not understand. Tommy's backhand was sucks during this match. He did step it up in the third, but still, he didn't impress me at all.
And the day was done.

Poor Kolya. I don't know why people don't like him. He's nice.

How cute.
And after that tournament, it all went downhill. Such a shame.

QF E Dementieva(6) - L Davenport(2) 6-1 3-6 7-66
Remember how angry you were with this one.
Nevermind the post-US Open wins, nobody cares about them. And Lindsay's only good win in there was Amelie, who she kills every time anyway.

Yes, Amelie. Who has now won two slams, and the YEC. Oh, the hilarity.
