It's insane how Serena served from 15-40 down.

There's no way Serena can beat Kim in the final. There is no way no matter how bad Kim plays that she can lose to someone that fat and slow and sucky. Kim will be the saviour of all tennis fans....--although I still kinda want my final of pretty blondes.

Oh well. Vaid will get her.
Where does Serena move up to now? #27 or so?

Grar, that was a tough loss.
A win like that could have really boosted Shahar's confidence. And a player like her is really needed in the top level of the game.
But, alas, the worst happens. The motto of the WTA.

If Serena plays KIM in the final, I'll want Serena to win. Of course, I won't watch and ignore whatever happens. But, yeah.

I was so excited and filled with hope when Shahar served for it at 6-5. But the "black women" (to quote Dawn Marie), fought back against racist, cheating umpires.

I'm just glad I went to bed!
At least Shahar made Serena work hard in that 3rd set. She regained the respect she lost from me by going walkabout in the 2nd. I didn't go into the match expecting Shahar to win anyway; I just didn't want her to hand it over meek and trembling.
If the final is Kim vs Serena I will definitely root for Kim. I feel bad that she hurt that wrist again and couldn't defend her US Open title. She's healthy (for once) and she's a fantastic hardcourt player; it would be sickening for her to lose to an out-of-shape Serena.
But I doubt I'd watch!
If it's Maria vs Serena? I'll just pretend it never happened and look forward to the clay season ....

Fish blows. How did he make the QF here. Blowfish! Is that you, Carillo? So it appears that everyone heard how Mary said, ostensibly "off-camera," "I'm probably going to be fired after this match anyway." Now, (A) why did she say that, and (B) isn't it interesting that someone caught that exact quote in its entirety, but nothing else, to put it on the air?

Maria is moving inexorably through the rounds but she doesn't seem to me to be playing with the assurance that she took into the USO. Maybe her last man standing attitude will see her through.
