Looks like Sharapova is going to win a 3-setter...

Brinyi, are you watching this? Agassi is limping around the court with a hurt hip.

I was watching this match without access to the computer. When Jarkko lost the third set I was all set to come here and be mad (because I was, he made some really bad mistakes to lose that TB). It has been very frustrating watching him lose this match that he can, and should win.
Agassi's prolly going to concede this set, now the question is will he retire from the match?

Fans are starting to boo Agassi for not even trying after initial return of the ball.
Commentators are about to cry and are seriously wondering if Agassi will retire or not.

A big congrats to Ferrero on his straight-set win, looks like it was a pretty comfortable win ;D I don't think it was on ESPN; I couldn't stay awake :red: while waiting for this Jarkko match. They started with JHH & Safin and have been showing bits of Sharapova as well.
Looks like Agassi's going to continue into the fifth. Will that be a Coria-like fourth set?
If Jarkko loses I'm going to be so pissed.

Well, Brad Gilbert has been leading the parade of commentators in not giving Jarkko any credit for his great comeback in the first set and for keeping Agassi on his toes the whole time Jarkko's Finnish cheering section is strangely absent from the stadium, but the crowd is giving him some love for his great shotmaking His serve has been pretty crappy, and lost him that crucial TB, but for the most part all of the rest of his shots have been consistently on.

The commentators are now praising Agassi for not seeking the trainer or retiring from the match Saying he wants to give Jarkko a "clean win" or "lose with dignity". How about losing without aggravating the injury even more? No wonder the martyr complex is celebrated here

Eurosport is funny today
"The Russian superstar may have won, but she didn't half make a meal of it... Showing that form, she will not progress too far in this tournament. Back to the drawing board, I think!"

I fail to see how being bagelled in the final set is more dignified than retiring if you're hurt.

Yeah, from what little I've seen, Sharapova's weaknesses on clay were definitely exposed. It's just too bad Linetskaya couldn't get it together because she was really frustrated in that first set.

maybe this will be his last french open God I hope so. I like this -- Mary Carillo's like, "Agassi wants to make sure this is Jarkko Nieminen's moment" as he waits for him to walk off the court together. Meanwhile, the camera has been glued to Agassi the entire time after the handshake Jarkko's going to have to clean up his serving but he has a great chance with this draw, I think. Andreev in the next round will be tough, but he was also stretched today.

Yay, Jarkko! A big congrats to Ferrero on his straight-set win, looks like it was a pretty comfortable win ;D I don't think it was on ESPN; I read on MTF that part of the match was shown on ESPN The scoreboard has a "stroke tracker" but it isn't working on my computer

Now for my own shallow moment -- I thought Jarkko was looking good today He's settled on a nice shade of blonde that's proably close to natural, and thankfully he was wearing a bit of color (light blue) instead of just the black and white of late. Plus I got almost the whole match It's been a long time since I've gotten a whole Nieminen match

I read on MTF that part of the match was shown on ESPN It wasn't much, more than likely; Kim played out on Court 1 yesterday and they showed a whole two games. If they were focusing on Safin & JHH (which is all I saw while drifting in and out of consciousness for a couple of hours) I don't think I missed much. Hopefully it will be on the highlight show. Agassi looked like he was going to cry when he walked off the court. At least Brad Gilbert isn't rubbing it in that Agassi's semi-tanking there was the only reason Jarkko won

Dutch commentator thinks Agassi is too old and should retire. Probably everybody in the world who saw the match besides the ESPN commentary team thinks that They are going to show his press conference, cutting into coverage for it. Please, Agassi's not going to say he's retiring. American men are 0-5 right now, looks like James Blake will be the first one through.
