"The problem is not the tennis." -- R. Nadal You are SO right Rafa. Your loss had nothing to do with your piss poor serving and with you constantly feeding Blake with loopy junk for him to blast away. Just keep playing the way you did and everything will be fine.

EVERY MC had 1 or 2 weak players. Goran needs to look at past draws.

Surprised to see Roger having so much trouble with Andy. He looked out of sorts in the opening set against Nalbandian as well. Hmm.

Roddick blew 3 MPs (led 6-4 in the 2nd set breaker). Fat Dave choked for the match up a set & 5-4. "Ivan Ljubicic's 30 aces in his three-set win was the most in a Tennis Masters Cup match since 1996 when countryman Goran Ivanisevic fired 35 aces in his 6-7, 7-6, 7-5 loss to Pete Sampras in the ATP World Championships semifinals."

Kolya. Yeah. That's your only chance of making the SF now. Davydenko, aiming to reach the semi-finals for a second successive year, said he had not prepared well enough to take on the players from the top eight in the world over three sets. "I was just losing power because I was losing concentration because I was ... very tired," said the 25-year-old, who blamed illness not his 31 previous tournaments this year for his fatigue.

(8)J Blake (USA) d (3)N Davydenko (RUS) 26 64 75 The match looked like an extended highlight reel at times. It seemed every rally was more intense and closely contested than the previous one. Both played excellently.

Bryan Brothers Fail to Reach Semifinals; Damm-Paes Qualify In a surprising turn of events here at the Tennis Masters Cup Shanghai, the world No. 1 team of Bob and Mike Bryan (audio) will not advance to the semifinals. Fourth seeds Paul Hanley and Kevin Ullyett, who came out of the round-robin Red Group with a perfect 3-0 record, ended the Bryans opportunity to reach the semifinals with a stunning 3-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 defeat of the top-ranked team on Thursday. ... The Bryans have not been playing at the top of their game this week and ended the round-robin portion with a 1-2 record, similar to the records that Martin Damm and Leander Paes as well as Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram had in their group. The nod for the second doubles spot in the semifinals from the Red Group went to Damm and Paes, who won a 6-4 7-6 (8-6) victory over the Israeli duo Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram in the other doubles match on Thursday. Damm and Paes won that spot because they had the highest winning percentage of sets. /me learns to love the round robin

"In the end what I care about is that I came through it, and not really who's the other guy. But it's still a bit of a surprise, of course, that Fat Dave came through again. I guess he deserved it because he should have beaten Ljubicic yesterday and he beat Roddick convincingly today." --

Hey, he can hit his forehand pretty hard. And he's kinda like a clay courter in that he likes standing 30 feet behind the baseline.
And he has Jimmy Connors. Can't forget about that. Although, it's hard to notice he's in the stands.

Had his chances, but Rafa was in the zone - even though he was playing at his most irritatingly defensive.

"In the beginning I felt great, good concentration, I played fast, moved fast. Then we had some long rallies...and I was feeling a little bit tired and made some mistakes."
