Great article, Lily!
He's got a few famous fans, eh? Bertarelli, Ziggy "Stardust", lol Yeah, his game's too good to ignore. And one day he'll shut up his critics and win a Slam.
And his incognito days are over, our boy is a big star now! But if he needs some quite spot to chill out, i can recommend him a few islands i personally know...*wink*
I can hardly wait for Gstaad again!

NASDAQ-100 OPEN MIAMI MARCH 24, 2003 Federer Enjoys Miami Night Federer advances, French Open champion Albert Costa also wins © Ezra Shaw/Getty Images Playing his first match under the lights at 2003 NASDAQ-100 Open, Federer entertained the crowd with his shotmaking. Roger Federer took to primetime Monday night playing in front of an enthusiastic night crowd at the Tennis Center at Crandon Park, moving into the round of 16 for the third consecutive year. Last year's finalist was broken only once, in the second set, and needed three sets to defeat Juan Ignacio Chela of Argentina in a match that was not as close as the scoreline indicated. Putting Chela on the defensive with his serve, Federer mixed it up from the baseline with his backhand slice while attacking the short ball. He nows faces a tough test in Holland's Sjeng Schalken who has yet to drop a set this week. One of the most intriguing matches of the day was a late afternoon match between Chile's Nicolas Massu and Roland Garros champion Albert Costa. With both playing from deep behind the baseline, making for engaging rallies, the players had a first set that latest nearly 90 minutes. After going to a first set tiebreak, Massu had one set point before Costa showed his experience to take the tiebreak. "The key to the match was that set point Massu had," said Costa after the match. "He put an easy volley in the middle of the court in that tiebreak and that was pivotal. After that I played alot looser in the second set because the pressure was on Massu." Costa had to contend with a vocal pro-Chilean crowd that usual emerge during the two weeks here at the NASDAQ-100 Open. In two other late matches, Guillermo Coria defeated Davide Sanguinetti and Nicolas Lapentti, who spends some of his time during the season in Miami, held off Wayne Ferreira 6-4, 6-2. Ferreira, who reached the semifinals at the Australian Open, couldn't convert on any of his 10 break points during the match. Lapentti is one win away from matching his quarterfinal showings in 2002 and 2000. source: www.atptennis.comGo Rogi go! Don't stop now! ;D

I have to say it. Rogi looks HOT in that blue! I've always said he was born to wear red (and he is!) but that blue, oh my, I just hope he wears it for a while I feel bad for Sjeng. He seems like a v nice guy and said such sweet things about Rogi during Rotterdam. Rogi's def got his number now. So who w be better for Rogi? Coria or Costa?

Hi Lily! Well, I don't know who's better for Rogi but Coria and Costa are STILL playing! GC 5 6 2 AC 7 3 4 so far! They're showing the women's QF tomorrow at 1pm? Still no highlights even of ROGI! Then we only get Fri 3.30am and Sat 3.30am, then the CBS coverage Sat/Sun. What time is the CBS coverage? Check out the 1001 reasons thread! Hee hee!

Hi RF!
I guess its better that Costa won. Coria has been really good lately. After the Venus/Meghan match last night they showed a highlight of Rogi/Chela and before the AA/Mark match, which is on now but i just cant watch, was a hl of Rogi/Sjeng. I think if Younes can beat Lleyt, he can certainly beat The Bald One, but maybe Rogi w like revenge in the semi's?
heres what our coverage is Wed 1p-4 11p-1a Thurs 12p-4 9p-11 Fri 2:30p-5 7p-9 Sat 11a-1 CBS Sun 12p-2 CBS it says taped. The womens final is live, but the men's is taped? and only 2 hrs? I'm having flashbacks of the AO. Too many Americans and not enough coverage. It doesnt even feel like i've seen any tennis. Any real tennis!

Well done Roger!! Keep it up!! Keep rolling!! Mrs. B. do you get DSF?? Couse they always show a résume of what's going on in Miami from 7.15 - 8.00 in the morning. Today they showed a few shots of Roger. (Main focus was on AA and Scud. Too bad Scud couldn't beat him.) Oh and thanks RF for the 1001 reasons you really are a good girl Now good luck Ro/Ma in your doubles today against Kohlmann/Schüttler (It's the first match on court 2. Too bad it start's at 12.00 so I won't be able to follow it on the scoreboard....)

Tschou, Doris! Yes, we have DSF but that's too early for me. I'll try it though, it's better than nothing. Oh well, soon clay court season starts in Europe, then there should be coverage again on Eurosport. With this nice weather I am getting impatient to play outdoors but will have to wait, they're still working on the place. So now i just go around on my velo... Are you still having lessons? Will you change to Alan again when he comes back?

...well the group lesson just finished this monday still have 2 privat lessons with this other guy.
Will take some more lessons with this other girl from the group but have no clue with whom it'll be and when...
... maybe it'll be Alan who knows. Won't be the other guy as his contract ends at the end of this moths...

It's a pity that private lessons cost a fortune, but i prefer those than with a group. Last year i got a few Gutscheins and also had one at our club. But you have to do it regularly to really improve your level. In the winter i had lessons with another girl, 2 is not too bad and you can still do a lot of things with the teacher and you only pay half. But to me one on one is the best. Like i said playing with a ball machine is good training too. With over a hundred balls i can just hit only backhands, and you can vary your returns and angles. or fh, whatever...

Agree privat lessons are the best. The group lesson was 4 ladies and to be honest I don't think I learned a lot. Toooo many misshits from all of us. The last two times we were just the two (the other young girl and I) of us and that was fine too.
And yes privat lessons cost a real fortune.....

I met this woman playing in a tournament, (i think she's from Biglen) she was ranked JS R4-R6, has white hair, and must be 50 years old, yet she looked very good and was playing beautiful tennis, her technique is to die for, a pity that she doesn't run fast enough esp. on drop shots so she always loses the finals to someone a bit younger and stronger on that category. But i asked her if she still takes "Unterricht" and she says she never stops doing it even if she's been playing the game for many many years. Guess that keeps her from getting rusty. Hmmm, if i'll win the lotto i'll take lessons twice a week and play in these local tournaments. Two or three years ago that's what i did, but since i took over the "Beizli" i just play in our club tournée. I think Alan's wife is competing too.

Yeah, she's Swiss. They met in the US when Alan was there on a tennis scholarship as a student from Manila.
