Congrats to Marat! Nice fight! I think Meg should denounce her evil Svengali coach about his nasty treatment of ALG, that's all. She says she stays with him because he helps her game -- so the worse she performs under his tutelage, the more likely she is to be dissatisfied and leave him. So therefore I'm rooting against her unless/until she ditches him. And preferably, denounces him and supports ALG as well, but just leaving him would be good. She plays better with Rafael as her coach than she does under anyone else. If it works for her, she should stick with it. What's going on between he and ALG is clearly personal. Meghann shouldn't involve herself, and she's not saying anything one way or the other.

Still, first set to JH -- nice to see (on the sb only, NEVER on US tv, of course ) that she ended it w/ a 109 mph serve -- glad she can still do that with this dicey shoulder. Overall I think her serve is a lot slower this week so far.

It's a typical Justine's early rounds match, struggling in the beginning but then slowly raising her level and the opponent fading away. Nice volley to break and go 3-0.

It's a typical Justine's early rounds match, struggling in the beginning but then slowly raising her level and the opponent fading away. Nice volley to break and go 3-0. I thought it was typical of Justine's early rounds when she wins the first set easily, but then has a lapse before winning set two? I guess it depends who you ask around here ...

I thought it was typical of Justine's early rounds when she wins the first set easily, but then has a lapse before winning set two? I guess it depends who you ask around here ... Well, she does that too. It's typical for her to struggle in early matches, one way or another, although she seems to be a lit better now in that department. Anyway, she played amazingly well in the 2nd set, just blew Pironkova away. If only she could keep it up like that all the way... I'm not too positive about that.

Jones has been around a while now ...
Bartoli about to close out Errani. Sara held a 3-1 edge in the first set, but Marion seems about to complete a solid win.
Jones loses the 3rd set. That should spell doom for his upset bid. Really, he's been up a break late in each of the three sets. Only choking has kept him from claiming more than one of them.
