TTC has shown Hopman Cup reruns for all of 2008, and the field stunk. You'll see the stupid Safins more than you'll want to.

RUSSIAN tennis star Marat Safin's arrival in Perth for the Hopman Cup was delayed by a late flight last night - but he went straight to the Cup ball in shorts and a T-shift, carrying his racquet bag. And he sported the remnants of what appeared to be bruising under his left eye and a cut near his right eye.
Safin, ranked 29th worldwide, is scheduled to team with his sister Dinara Safina against Italy today.

Tennis ace in brawl admission
Tennis, 13:37, January 4, 2009
Russia's Marat Safin took to the court in Perth on Sunday despite sporting cuts and bruises to his face after a fight in his homeland. The former world number one is currently competing for Russia against Italy in the Hopman Cup and won both of his matches on Sunday, beating Simone Bolelli in the singles and then combining with sister Dinara Safina to win the doubles rubber.
But it was how the 28-year-old looked that caught the headlines, with the former US and Australian Open champion admitting that he had been involved in a brawl in the Russian capital.
Speaking after his success in Perth, Safin revealed: "I got in trouble in Moscow.
He added: "It's OK, I can survive. Just some small problem that I wasn't in the right place at the right time. Yes, I won the fight. I'm good, I'm OK."
Tournament director Paul McNamee said: "I saw him in the lobby and he didn't look good. He said, 'I need two things, I need to see a doctor and I need to practice.' So I got the doctor and he gave him some treatment."

...
The winner of the Germany-Slovakia match will top Group A and advance to the final.
...
The Russian brother-sister combination of Marat Safin and Dinara Safina top Group B after defeating Taiwan in singles matches. Safina stopped Hsieh Su-wei 4-6, 6-2, 7-5, while Safin won 7-6 (6), 7-5 against Lu Yen-hsun.
Russia will play France on Thursday.
...
A French victory will mean that France, Russia and Italy could all be on two victories by the end of the Round-Robin series and the finalist from Group A will be decided by the calculator.

Safina defeated Alize Cornet 6-3, 6-2 before her brother lost to Gilles Simon 7-6 (5), 6-3. In the deciding mixed doubles, Russia beat France 6-4, 6-3 to advance to the final of the team competition. ... Safina and Safin fell behind 4-1 on two service breaks before mounting a comeback, but not before a few words and glares were exchanged between the siblings on court. "It's a brother-sister relationship," Safin said, grinning. "I think we all know about that."

Fred Stolle's commentating Hopman Cup for Tennis Channel! Wow, seems like old times. When I became a tennis fan it was always Mary, Fred, and Cliff on ESPN, but I haven't heard Fred for ages. There's tons of hours of coverage, too; obviously, it's not live. Right now it's Chip Hewitt vs Blake, and I don't know the outcome so it's fun. I probably already missed the brother-sister team, though.
