She has three danger matches to open. Mattek-Sands, Lisicki/Safarova and Szavay are all capable of beating her on clay. You were right! So, good. Now we don't have to worry about so-called "top" players sucking and losing late in the tournament. FVW was gotten early, as she needs to be. Now...will someone step up in the bottom half too? And with Sharapova too, while we're at it? Well, Szavay did it. I was getting a bit nervous ... you must be happy, eh? Unfortunately, The Zak and the Nad just couldn't quite do it. However, I'm still holding to my Sveta d. Serena worst case scenario. Somebody could get Serena before that, too. For Maria, I was a bit surprised at how close Shvedova came. I think Na Li beats her, and I'd love to see it. Na Li deserves another deep Slam run.

MJMS is the only pre-QF hope to beat Serena...in the 4R, not only can I not imagine LDL or WozCan beating even 06-form Serena, it would be gross if either did.

That would be nice, but I'm still bitter about how wrong your Petrova prediction was -- how I loved that prediction! But this time I won't be getting my hopes up, except maybe a tiny bit, and secretly. Though MJMS did way, way better than I expected her to. I hope this type of result gives the other players hope that they can do just that little bit better and send Serena home.

Gross. Na Li teased us and then found a way to lose.
I think Wozniak has some chance. Everybody coming up against SWilliams on clay does.
Horribly, we stand a real chance of seeing Sharapova in the semis here, as some tried to warn. Then again, she's really having to work to do it. Four three-setters must be tiring.

You just pick the Sistahs because you're trying to jinx the worst case scenario. Don't try and tell me you really thought there would be a 2002 repeat this year.
Big win for Svetlana.
Now I see yet another Kuznetsova-Safina title match, with Dinara taking it and backing up her #1 ranking.
