Nice draw for Lucic. How the hell is Larsson ranked 84?! Who I want | Who I think Tomljanovic | Kanepi Karatantcheva or Han | Karatantcheva Oprandi | Pervak Chakhnashvili | Mattek-Sands Zhang | Erakovic Halep | Doi Palkina | Rodina Lucic | Lucic Paszek | Hofmanova Niculescu | Pliskova Kalashnikova | Cavaday Pivovarova | Pivovarova

And I'm not going tomorrow. Too much to do and I'm not trekking to Roehampton just to dodge the torrents of rain.

Oh, too bad. But, yeah, the rain thing doesn't sound like much fun. And Alex Stevenson isn't there this year, so why go.

Predict:
Kanepi Thundah Pervak Mattek Perry Doi Rodina? Misa Nara Who knows? Maybe Niculescu Who knows? Maybe Hlavackova Pivovarova
Want:
Minella Thundah or The Hair The Dropshot Dame Dokic Don't care (too many "don't cares" to follow, so I'll pick someone anyway - Tatishvili) Dentoni Don't care (Brengle?) Anyone but Misa (Lucic?) Don't care (Paszek?) Diatchenko Don't care (Kalashnikova?) Pivovarova

I picked Hofmanova and Pliskova because of how well they've done in those Asian Challengers on fake grass.
The Perry/Erakovic Q2 should be a rare qualies match between players who love grass - and then the winner has to play either Zhang (don't know much about her, but we do know about the Asian players on grass) or former Wimbledon QFist Beltrame!
Tits Paszek actually has a great draw to qualify but I assume she'll screw it up somehow.

I picked Hofmanova and Pliskova because of how well they've done in those Asian Challengers on fake grass.Against dismal opposition, but good call regardless. The sk0rz at the grasscourt warmups haven't been as wacked out as in previous seasons, Riske's run excepted, so maybe these qualies won't be as random as I was initially anticipating. Still, anything can happen in the Bychkova and Camerin sections.

Elbo bothering to play Wimbly? Meh.
Didn't Erakovic win a grass title a couple years ago?

Lots of epics...Han apparently came from 1-5 down in the third and saved three MPs at 5-6 to beat Schruff 8-6. And Namigata beat Pliskova 14-12 in the third

It looks like Thunder's new approach of not giving a shit is paying off! I guess the effect is only good for 1 match per week. Lost to NLV -- on GRASS! Bovina lost meekly to Kanepi. Dokic needed 3 sets to lose to a rusty Ditty. Oh, well, she wasn't going to beat Mattek-Sands anyway.

Dubois through to r3. Arn is crushing Brengle like a bug. Lucic serving to stay in the 2nd set against Birney Fife.

Lucic won! 61 75. Wow, what fun to see her back in Slam qualies again. And even WINNING a couple of matches. Sure was a long, tough slog to get back here, but here she is.

Hope Lucic can beat Krajicek - doesn't seem likely but I'm rooting for her.

“After so many years, every match was like winning Wimbledon for me. I was so focussed. I have a couple of strained muscles but I was fighting. I’m hard on myself so now I’m proud of myself to go from the smallest tournaments all the way to Wimbledon, without getting any wild cards. I would drive by the main site every day and tell myself ‘I’m getting there, I’m getting there’, and now I’m going there!”
-- Mirjana Lucic
I'm so happy for her after her years of struggle in the minor leagues.

I just hope she gets a better draw than the last time she qualified for a GS.

Ajde! Hope she draws a hapless claycourter or a Wozniacki who she can bully past for a win.
Edit: I meant Ajmo!

Is there some particular reason why chose Ajmo instead of Ajde? They're both acceptable.

Isn't (a) Wozniacki the worst possible match-up for Lucic? I think it's better if she faces players who play like her.

Is there some particular reason why chose Ajmo instead of Ajde? They're both acceptable. They are? I thought Ajde was Serbian and Ajmo was Croatian. Thanks for the clarification.
