I have no desire to chastise Brinyi. I hope that wherever he is, they have great food! Hopefully he will read all of this one day and appreciate how much Janie (and others) care

Or that. Well - no - now that you know he's okay, no. That happened just a week or so ago. So yeah, now I do know he's alive, but I still assume that something not so great is going on in his life that took him away from all social uses of the internet for months on end, something very serious such as a death or serious illness in the family. These things obviously happen a lot more frequently in the age group of Brinyi and myself, and that's exactly the sort of thing that would make me disappear without any word, so, right or wrong, that is what I've concluded about him, too. Now you know why I can't even comprehend this idea of "chastising" him that you keep mentioning. I just want to give him space and try to maintain some level of connection, taking my cues from him how much or little he wants of that. Anyway, to address the other issue that keeps popping up here: I sincerely apologize for chastising you (although to me it was more like whining than chastising ). Seriously, I'm not used to anyone paying that much attention to my grumpy comments! If I ever annoy you again, just ignore me. I'm just in a bad mood and picking fights again. Anyway it makes a bit more sense now that I've processed it. I mean, concern outweighs anger. I also have a suspicion that I'm partially to blame for Brinyi's absence due to my behavior so I'm acting out because of that too.

Janie's explanation crossed my mind about Brinyi too but also, I've been on various message boards for over a decade now, and my (our?) enjoyment of sticking with them for years on end is the exception, not the rule. And even I pretty much quit WTAW without explanation. If I hadn't found the Cult and if a few others hadn't made an effort to keep up with me, I probably would have lost all connection to WTAW posters. Sometimes life just moves on. It's unfortunate and I echo what Chloe said but what can you do.
I don't think this board is in danger of dying. I actually like it being pocket-sized, and how we don't have to be thorough about every single result and update (but are still nerds who delve into the Hidden World). I don't have the time to handle a tennis board as big as TF (and if I was on it, I'd probably be on it too much for my own good), so something this size is perfect. (And the posters here, of course!)

I don't think anything happened here that would make him leave, unless I missed something. Whatever it is, we can just hope he is doing alright.

Yeah, we're not in danger of dying. I mean, I know that I'm not the greatest contributer, but I do check here every single day.

Most people abruptly leave message boards after continuous usage that you never think would end. That's how the Internets work. At least Yi Brin is doing well, it looks like.

Yeah, I guess you're right. I hope that's all it is, just another run-of-the-mill Internets defection.

So, he posted a racket levitation pic and that's it. Odd.

I appreciate the randomness of it. I almost want him to just start appearing once ever 2 or 3 months to post one of those pics, but nothing else. No explanation.

Ha, that would be fun for just the bizarreness of it, but I want him to come back like before and post about Juniors etc etc etc again. After all, without Brinyi we would never have heard of Rafa at age 15. Who knows what future champions are simmering in the junior pot for us right now? Anyway, yay.

Yeah I also support him discussing tennis from time to time as well.

Rafa and Ti-Rich at 15; those were the days! Chloe, you probably had a better idea about Rafa than Brinyi or I did, since we both thought Wussquet would be the big champion with Rafa trailing forever behind him. Oops.
In my case at least that's not surprising, since I was also positive that Serena would never, ever win an Olympic gold in singles, and that Sharapova would never, ever win RG. #2012woes
