Kaia got killed by a Pliskova. The Craybas/Peer opponent would be one of Begu/Cadantu ;D.

Apart from Martic who's beaten her before, there's no respectable way left for Kvitty to exit the tournament.

Since when is Shitra concerned with respectability. She'll lose to Crayfish, probably.

Since when is Shitra concerned with respectability. Was just about to post this exact sentence.

I hope Craybas wins this tournament. For laughs.

Shitra is outdoing herself. Down a break to MINELLA.

OH SHITRA.
She got the break back and served for the set.
DF. Netted smash. Simple FH five miles long. DF.

Your QFs:
(1) Petra KVITOVA (CZE) vs. Petra MARTIC (CRO) (LL) Shahar PEER (ISR) vs. (Q) Alexandra CADANTU (ROU) Annika BECK (GER) vs. (Q) Maria Elena CAMERIN (ITA) Karolina PLISKOVA (CZE) vs. (2) Roberta VINCI (ITA)

Or, in her case, Minella.
Martic can actually win that match, especially on clay.

Minella is really no good at all.
Martic hadn't won a match all year coming into this tournament, which is the only reason I give Shitra a small chance.

Poor Camerin has choked a 5-1 lead away and is now down a set. Like most Italians she's too cute and likable.

From hideous slump to her first WTA SF in a matter of days for Beck - the wonders of what can happen when your section of the draw collapses at an event like this.

Camerin gets bageled in the second. Pliskova wins the opening game and loses the next 12. Fun quarterfinals so far!

Dare we contemplate what kind of "fun" Shitra intends on adding to the QFs.

Completely unexpectedly, Kvitty is playing a calm and controlled match. Some nice points at the net too.
Waiting for the idiocy to commence.

Looks like we were rendered speechless by a decent performance.
Don't worry. She's saving her flop for Cadantu, naturally.

"Disco Petra" has got to be one of the worst nicknames ever. It almost makes me want her to lose.

Roberta Vinci, 30, has lost 2 games in her last two matches against two recent junior Slam champions.

Vinci easily with the most aesthetically pleasing game to watch. If she doesn't play Errani of course - her backhand slice gets exposed rather easily there. But she'll always look great playing juniors and power-relying players.

Cadantu finally wins a game (was apparently on the verge of tears earlier according to TF). Kvitty leads 6-0, 4-1.

Mighty Kvitty is here! Judging by the score, anyway, she's been playing like a wild cat today: 60 40 Or is it just Cadantu remembering she's Cadantu.

And naturally Kvitty loses serve after being up 40-15, so 6-0, 4-2.

Three games in a row for rampant Cadantu. Mighty Kvitty, where art thou?

Kvitty overcomes the mid-match collapse! From 6-0, 4-0 to 6-0, 4-4 to 6-0, 6-4. Is Vinci going to crush her tomorrow?

Post by janie on Apr 13, 2013 14:07:09 GMT -5
That's okay. Lots of great players have that mid-match lapse -- Henin, Venus for example. I hope she'll crush Vinci; I'm a Vinci fan but it's time for Mighty Kvitty to show her might.

Roberta Vinci, 30, has lost 2 games in her last two matches against two recent junior Slam champions. Two junior Slam champions that literally no one has ever predicted for greatness, though. Cosign on the cringiness of "Disco Petra". I've no idea why either. It's not as bad as Martha or Makiri, at least.
