Deep field, good matches. Definitely helped by being the only SEWTA event of the week.

"Oeiras"?! Apparently the tournament hasn't even changed venue, it's just a rebranding.
Great qualy draw though. I hope Corswandt has opted for Star Candle Head.

LOL, unseeded WC Sweta against 6th seed Lepchenko makes no sense to my brain. In qualies: - slumping Vania has unexpectedly beaten in-form Beck and Burnett - Shoedin extends her losing streak to 8 against Savinykh - Caravane dropped a set to a bumpkinette WC but then beat Savinykh - the Devil Child lost a 5-7 third set to Konta - bad result, that - Castano STILL winning matches, into Q3 over Kudryavtseva and Tsurenko, 7-6 and 7-5 in the third respectively - Gavrilova and Svitolina continue to underwhelm at Tour level, losing to Feuerstein and Voskoboeva respectively Final Q round: King vs. Rezai Cabeza Candela vs. Foretz-Gacon Castano vs. Peer Puig vs. Voskoboeva

Nice Q stories! Guess Rezai is more desperate so I'll root for her in that bout. Also pulling for Foretz & Peer
In the MD, wouid love to see Koehler pull off the upset for the home team.

Thank you! What would this tournament be without Corswandt's reports.

Peng d. CAKE 6-0 1-6 6-4 #scoreLiNa I guess a match between two slumpers was always going to end in a mess like that. Paszek won four games against FSG, falls to 1-9 this year

Bartoli is becoming so irrelevant. I haven't even noticed she's dropped to as low as #14.

Great to see Kaia rounding into form again.

Farewell AMG, farewell. I'm going to be the only one missing her on this board. And maybe in general.

Great to see Kaia rounding into form again. Yes! I was worried about her after yet another injury break; I guess she's had enough practice at coming back strong. Beating Cirstea is always welcome. Puig beat Fran 6-3 6-2 - lots of people seem impressed by her game. Good to see - I liked what I saw at the start of the year when she pushed Kerber and I like her.

Not so sure. She hasn't been faring well since her golden summer of 2011.

Farewell AMG, farewell. I'm going to be the only one missing her on this board. And maybe in general. What? Is she retiring, or you'll just miss her in Estoril? Either way, yeah, I for one won't miss her at all, ever.

AMG is just slumping really badly at the moment - losing in first rounds of her beloved clay MM tournies. She has lost to Cirstea 3 times this year alone! Farewell was wished more in regard to her ranking:)

Oh! Well her slump hasn't prevented her from getting a Madrid WC. So you'll be able to enjoy her many matches there.

Oprandi was such a joy to watch - she can do ANYTHING with the ball and her game is totally unreadable - and Sweta was comedically terrible. 6-2 6-2 to Romina!

Is this Oprandi's one good tournament in five years? She's like an even more extreme version of Schnyder.
Sweata looked somewhat on her way back in January. Clearly not anymore.

SFs: Oprandi vs. Pavlyuchenkova and a rematch of last year's choketastic final, CSN vs. Kanepi.

LOL @ how outrageously Chunkova tanked the last two games of that bagel set Oprandi laid on her Hingis must be DYING inside having to coach her.

So what happened? Romina injury, Romina choke, Pavs sudden surge of greatness?

Opradi probably decided that she's already put in too much effort this week.

Oh, apparently it was Oprandi's turn to give up once Pav started putting a bit of effort in. SEWTA! I did put some money on Pav just after the bagel, so it wasn't a huge shock - Oprandi wasn't nearly as sharp as yesterday.
CSN avenged last year's final, straight-setting Kaia. This is a terrific chance for her first title against an out-of-form Pav. VAMOS.

CSN goes down in straight sets to Pav, 7-5, 6-2. Is winning a title officially an issue for her?

So, I watched some of this, and Pav is simply a lesser quality of basher. Die, SEWTA, die.
