Oh, and I won't be able to post much over the course of this tourney, as I will be on an island with crap internet, primarily camped at a beach bar, pestering the barmen to turn off football for SEWTA.

I really want to watch the Aga/Grassonkova 4R match that has a 99% chance of happening. Grassvetana is mocking me. She'll hopefully lose to the BZS-Rybarikova winner. Lord knows I can't deal with another year of The Myth.

How did you find Laura in person? If you can talk about it I genuinely like her, and she's one of the few youngsters I'd like to see succeeding. I'm always a little bit in awe when I read your articles, I have a feeling like I know a famous person.

If I had to watch all tennis matches with Chris Evert commentary, I would hate this sport. She doesn't know what she's talking about regarding the current players, and enough already with the crap about "30 years ago". Does she think she's the first one to point out the difference in the worn areas of grass now compared to then? We've been hearing that for the past 15 years! Congrats on that SI link to your article, Alex! That's fabulous! I've got it bookmarked and will read it after they stop playing for the day. -- Okay, just read it. And I still like her! Good job, Alex. I think British tennis players in general tend to be more grounded, or at least less abnormal than most.

Lord knows I can't deal with another year of The Myth. Grasslavova-Strycova beat Grassbarikova - the latter has still not won a match at Wimbledon. Pavs landed in a bit of a grass court specialist section, especially with the winner of Martic and Servebot Pliskova awaiting in R3. Bit surprised the Zak, who was on a losing streak, lost to "in-form" Hantuchova.

I'm always a little bit in awe when I read your articles, I have a feeling like I know a famous person. Oh, like all interviews with anyone vaguely famous it was through her PR (or the Virgin Active PR - she was promoting their brand). It was quite weird to interview an athlete after being used to interviewing pop stars. It was for the lifestyle section rather than sports section, hence the non-focus on tennis.

Honestly, being quoted by Courtney Nguyen is about as prestigious as being quoted by the Puffington Host or a TF poster. Having said that, good job on the original story.

Yes, I think non-tennis fans like her because they're pretty sure they've heard her name before. Unlike, say, Lindsay Davenport. And they have no idea she's spouting a bunch of malarkey. I like this: On the BBC telecast after Robson’s match, Virginia Wade started to talk about Robson doing something incredible in the tournament and imagining a quarterfinal meeting with Serena Williams, causing the anchor Sue Barker to say, “Calm down, Virginia.”

You guys, I remember Chrissie commentating in the late 90's and I don't think she was this horrible. Nowhere near the likes of BJK/Nav but at least she had heard of the players she was talking about.

Chrissie did know the players a little better when she was on NBC, because she played against most of them, but she was just as useless. The finals she did without King Bud are tough to sit through on Youtube now. Unfortunately, most people don't care, and she's popular enough with the old crowd to keep her around.

All I ask is that they prepare for their job, like anyone else in the world has to do. There is no excuse for a commentator to be up there saying, I never heard of this player. Have they never heard of Google? Or head into the locker room the way MJ Fernandez does, and find things out.
