Shvedova served for it again and hit another two DFs. In those two games she won zero points. Absolute disintegration from 5-1 to 5-5.

For once in my life I find myself thankful for Andreas Seppi

17yo Kokkinakis has a fourth set lead over Sijsling but is cramping badly. Somehow held for 4-1. Can he get over the finish line...

Holds for 5-2. Sijsling is terrible

Whoa @ that final game. Kokkinakis just smacked everything for low-percentage winners and they went in. Fantastic win for him.

Swetlana lost to Svitolina in straight sets. RETIRE

When Kokkinakis won I contemplated making some facetious joke about how Tomic would doubtless provide a contrast later and SO IT HAPPENED. Most NID anticlimax ever.

Simon-Brands at 10-10 in the fifth. Who's watching?

Oh my god, just read about Nara asking for Peng to be given a point penalty for cramping! Seeing the video, there was absolutely nothing worth the outrage directed towards Nara. Peng obviously couldn't play anymore, the chair umpire should've put her out of her misery by calling it a game penalty or whatever you get for sitting and crying on court for 5 minutes and not being able to play anymore. Poor umpiring, if anything.

Where is the video? It's not on Youtube...
Ben Rothenberg @benrothenberg 2m Just in Tomic's press where he expressed huge sadness over his leg injury at his favorite Slam. Then he jogged past me in the hall. #AusOpen

Aww, Kaia lost. Hewitt also lost in the end, though. AO Day 2 silver lining, but glad I didn't have to watch and suffer through it.

So, we have two Blazes (Blazs?) in r 2 -- not bad! I love that name for an athlete, and I don't remember seeing it before the last couple of years.

Oh, that isn't as bad as it was made out. Nara isn't very sympathetic but it seemed a bit like Peng was going to be allowed to cry on court indefinitely. And it's not like it was mid-match.
Is Blaz a common SLO name? Never encountered it, or any equivalents, before Kavcic and Rola. It's odd how some names suddenly become fashionable in one country - I've noticed a couple of recent French ITF players called Océane. I asked my French housemate about its popularity and she sniffed that it sounded like a toilet.

Swetlana lost to Svitolina in straight sets. RETIRE Horrible. Am so fed up with her. I refuse to get pulled back in again, talking myself into thinking she actually gives a shit. I used to be outraged that she'd get stuck on far outside courts, but she deserves to be playing out in Perth.

Peng won the second set thanks to a MTO which she used to stop Nara's momentum when she came back from 1-4 down, too. Obviously she wasn't going to fall twice for the same trick.
I know many people with that name, so yeah, it's quite common in the 0-35 age group. I could name 10 Blazs right away. English equivalent is Blaise, the Italian Biagio. The only otherwise famous Blaise is apparently Blaise Pascal.

I wonder why no one pointed out the obvious connection between Tomic's groin injury and the infamous lap dance!
