I mean, now the White Mug is either playing far too carefully or bashing wild errors and she has no idea where to find the happy medium. Yes, that's all I saw from her. Just another baseline ballbasher, didn't get to see anything special. Glad to hear there's more to her, I guess, since the Tour has more than enough BBBs.

I don't think she's a future elite player - her power is a lot more effortful compared to, say, Keys and Konjuh, where you can just hear how smooth their ball-striking is. But she's fun and will improve some more. I think she has a higher ceiling than Bouchard and Stephens.

Am watching taped Stephens match now. Just wanted to hear what the US commentators would be saying about her. In between the expected remarks about her vast future potential, they've been pointing out plenty of shortcomings in her movement and her game.
But at least she does something interesting with the ball now and then, not just straight BBB. I have to admit that I was surprised and kind of impressed that she reached the 4th round here; she's actually a better player than I gave her credit for.
Azza just awful on BPs, though.

I worry about Konjuh needing surgery at such a young age, though. Like Abanda missing so much of last year with a shoulder injury. Just not something you want to see for 16 year olds.

What a good day! Masha's result is all I was hoping for.
