"Well, it was just the whole game. I was a little flat. I was a little tired. I was just a little late..." - M. Hingis, commenting on her loss to K. Clijsters.

Q. Did you tire at all in the third set?
VENUS WILLIAMS: No, no. I didn't tire. In fact, no. Actually, I didn't tire. That's the answer (smiling).

JUSTINE HENIN‑HARDENNE: Well, I don't sleep all that well in the second week of a Grand Slam. That's when things start getting complicated. I was feeling a little bit tired today. But otherwise I think that everything went rather well for me.

from L'Equipe: Julien était vraiment fatigué.

There sure is a lot of this "manquait de fraîcheur physique" business going around this year. Cela est indéniable! But what's that business about putting him in the bath?

It's like getting into the swing of things (also a weird expression when you think about it!).
The questioner is asking if playing doubles at the start of the tournament got him into the swing of things and helped him in singles.

Oh! I thought maybe it meant the opposite, like playing doubles sunk him!

Like getting his feet wet? In that case, I'm putting all my favourite players in the bath!

Like getting his feet wet? In that case, I'm putting all my favourite players in the bath! Ha! Sort of, except it's more like being thrown into the bath and getting your whole body wet.
