I guess the third sign of being a fanatic is hoping the player you're obsessed with goes out to Hingis in the SF en route to her first-ever RG title. Lock me up!

Find the difference: "JHH beat herself in this set." What I maybe think about today's second set. "JHH only beats herself." What you think I would say. If you can't...I'm at a loss. That's why I said "Just waiting for you to say that". Meaning that you haven't said it yet, but are getting close to saying it. For the third time...HENCE MY PROBLEM WITH THAT COMMENT.

Really. Here's a hint: I nearly killed myself in 1997 and 1999, just ask your pal Sjengster2. Do the math, if you can. Wow. Suicide thoughts because of a tennis result scream fanatism IMO, but I'm no expert on that. So I guess if Ondraskova makes the third round tomorrow, the tournament will be over for you?

I'm not saying it's the case with Urli, but about 99% of wta fans are full of it when they talk about their fave (hardly typical of Williams fans, even though they're the most annoying ones), so if you start a crusade with every one of them, it's going to be a full time job.

Correct. That's what I have given up being a fan, except cheering for some losers that no one else cares about. Then again, what's the point then of having the Ducknation thread when in reality you are no different than those people we are laughing at?

That last post was rather dumb. There's still a difference between WTAWorld and this board.

What's the difference between being a fanatical fan (which I am not, but certainly WAS for Hingis) and a fanatical anti-fan? And isn't the latter really really really sad? I gave up on work for the day ;D

And how is one of Dechy and Hantuchova going to be in the fourth round? That section was RIPE FOR THE PLUCKING! Ripe I tell you!

Because you know...you're on the merry-go-round too.
And it's not sad, I retract that.

Because you know...you're on the merry-go-round too. Oh, you mean Kiefer?
Well, first of all, I admit I'm fanatic. Which makes me less fanatic already. Hardcore-fanatics would never admit they are fanatic. Then, I try to keep it a bit tongue-in-cheek by overdoing it and never trying to conceal my hate. It's a fine line though, and sometimes I cross it.

All I'm saying is if you think you're above the fray, you aren't. So yeah, we're laughing at Ducknation, but you're making a thousand threads in WTA World or MTF every time a Williams sister or Kiefer does something stupid (which is helped by them being idiots, but still) and, you know, what's the point? Fanatics cannot be objective and you aren't always objective, you know. I certainly don't think you're objective about JHH much like you don't think I am about her.
So what's the difference? Perspective causes it. And neither one of us is necessarily always right.
But I'm mostly right.

Perspective causes it. And neither one of us is necessarily always right. But I'm mostly right. "Mostly" ... we are making progress. Sorry, but I cannot fully agree with your post. You are right about Kiefer, I always start threads about him. But the Williamses? As I said, I don't hate them. I LOATHE their fans and love to rile them up. But when was the last time I started a thread about Venus or Serena? Honestly, I can't remember. So yeah, I have never been terribly fond of JHH. But the same goes for many other players, for different reasons. So in that context, I think I treat her same as most other players. At the very least I'm not particularly forgiving to any of the top-players since none of them is a fave of mine, so I will call bullshit if I see it. Anyway, when I analyse a match, I try to put all personal feelings aside and just judge what I see. I'm tired.

This opinion that I never admit when I'm wrong is absurd. I do. I'm just rarely wrong. I wish I could feel bad about that.
Anyway Day Five is ova. And so is this fight. I win again! Except when I thought you were talking about JHH when you were talking about Lindsay. So I guess you took the second set because I beat myself. 6-0 6-7(1308327) 6-0.

Flavor. Friday's schedule will be jam packed after the rain delays today. I just hope ESPN2 actually wakes up and shows Maria Sharapova's match live since she's a ratings maker for their network. I'm hoping ESPN2 features her third round French Open match against Alicia Molik so I can actually see Maria play some tennis and it would be good if it was live tennis.
