Later on Court 17: Hingis/Bhupathi vs Arvidsson/Huss? This is a match that could explode Brinyi's head!

I just spotted Aranxta at the Nadal-Kim match. I miss her. She looked good. Why not relive her French titles at the site? : Monica really should've beaten her in 1998. Geez. I'd love to relive her 1989 title. The 1994 win is forgivable since Mary won it in 2000. The 1998 loss still haunts me. It's annoying that Monica stopped Martina but then didn't win it herself.

It's weird because the 98 RG final has a similar score than the 95 US Open final (7-6 0-6 6-?).
Monica should have won it, but she didn't. All credit to Aranxta.

Very similar scorelines. 7-6, 0-6, 6-3 in the 95 Open final. 7-6, 0-6, 6-2 in the 98 RG final. I believe both tie-breaks were 8-6. Monica had setpoint in the opening set in both matches. But, as you said, full credit to Aranxta. It was a great tournament for her, taking out Silliams, Schnyder, and Davenport.

You could watch the 1991 final if you need your fix of Monica beating Arantxa for the crown.

I don't recall Aranxta ever facing Davenport on clay... Or maybe the match wasn't memorable, that's why I don't remember.

Lindsay hit an overhead long on matchpoint. Aranxta's best match before the final was her fight back against Serena 6-4, 5-2 down to win 4-6, 7-5, 6-3. Serena rifled a ball at her head and after the match Aranxta complained, "She showed me no respect." When Aranxta beat Venus 6-0, 1-6, 6-2 in the 2000 RG quarters, she said, "Two years ago I beat her sister on the same court and now I've beaten her here too." or something along those lines. I digress. ;D
