This was one of the better GS finals though.lol. The wind and heat was a definite factor.
Juju doesn't have alot to defend either. Plus she seems fitter. She's already played alot this year.
It seems ridiculous that with such a fau record this year she is a long shot for #1. but it is a year-long season. She has to keep it up.
If only Juju was a few inches taller, I'd give her Wimby with ease. Those kick serves/slices out wide will be the bane of her Wimby existence. but if she wins WImby, especially this year, I would be ecstatic.
Of course I expect her and Carlos to adopt a different strategy than today. She will definitely have to be consistently aggressive.

Justine is still a long shot for #1. Simply because she's not gonna play enough tournies. She'd have to make the final at Wimbly to have a realistic shot at it, considering that Amelie, Maria, Nadia, etc... don't have a ton to defend before US Open, either. Maybe she won't. But her French Open result catapults her to #1 in the Race.

Meh... I give it a D. Just take the beginning second set, Kuzzie wins 10 points in a row, then she makes 4 unforced errors and loses the momentum she just gained. Like I said, they never really played well at the same time, it was mostly an unforced errors festival.

If they had both played well at the same time, it could've been an A or B match. As it was, we did get to see some good shots struck from both players, and had some moments of tension. Then in the 2nd set, the sight of Justine in her chair with ice on her neck, looking all pale and wan, brought a couple "Oh no, please say she can't be sick" moments. So, better than D. Average match.

Justine is #1 in the race after playing quite a bit.
That changes after Wimbly.
I believe she only plans to play Toronto. And she probably won't play a bunch of indoor stuff, either.
Whereas if Kim is near #1, she'll play 10 weeks in a row to steal #1 at the end of the year, then cry why she's always injured.
I was more referring to before the US Open, though. Justine is too far behind at the moment. Amelie still has like a 1000 point lead.

If Kim cared that much about getting back to #1, she'd hire a coach.

I lost interest, switched to ENG-PAR, which was even more boring, so I had a nap.
