Half a page already! Women's tennis is more popular here now, isn't it? Well, more so than all other sports. And some politicians. And gravy. Sliced bread. Not as popular as whipped cream.

Looks like Fichman's keeping good company! Seeing her name in that elite group is like seeing Barbara Schett listed among the all-time greats of tennis. No offense meant, of course!

One of the BBC commentators also compared Kuz to Dave. He does come to mind when you see her, but I'm not sure thats what they meant.

Justine is more like Rafa. At least with her topspinny shots. And fighting spirit, or whatever.
Final went just about how I expected it.

For once I didn't get too nervous when Justine had her usual lapse & went down 0-2 so quickly in the 2nd set. Instead I was wondering if Sveta could keep it up; she's as much a lapse queen as Justine, but without a couple RG trophies in the back of her mind to make the lapses seem unimportant.
Cool match, though. I was glad Sveta got her game together for a while so we could at least see why she was in the final, unlike Mary, Kim, and ED in recent RG Finals memory.

At least this wasn't a blowout. Good for Justine. She is the best clay court player and deserves this title, there is no doubt. Now she has a pretty good shot at retaking #1 in the weeks to come since last year went down the tubes for her right about now. All in all, a pretty good tournament for the women, I think. I have rather high hopes for Wimbledon too.

Congrats to juju beans!!
I was puzzled by her position 10 ft behind the baseline, but oh well, it worked.lol
Classic Juju was 3/3 in the 2nd set to break Sveta. Now, THAT was a JHH clay court point .

Justine is still a long shot for #1. Simply because she's not gonna play enough tournies. She'd have to make the final at Wimbly to have a realistic shot at it, considering that Amelie, Maria, Nadia, etc... don't have a ton to defend before US Open, either.

Justine to win Wimbledon! Ten bucks says that the mens final-thread gets more posts. To be fair, that match should be at least twice as long.

It wasn't a blow out but it was still an horrible final. They both never really play good at the same time, and tons of, ugly unforced errors.

I wouldn't call it horrible -- then what name do you give to the pathetic ED-Myskina final?? But this one certainly wasn't one of the greats. I'd give it a C+. Still, in comparison with other recent women's RG finals, it was the best of 'em. Now onto the men!
