There are not news about the future of the argentinian ATP tournament. But it´s possible that Buenos Aires will loss it´s week, which was so hard to re-obtain
Let me tell you what is happening:
The main sponsor AT&T went to bankruptcy in Latinoamérica, and suddenly the people who is organizating the event were alone. They (ALTENIS) are from US but they don´t want to put the money for the prizes, so last monday, 23/12, there was a meeting in Pontevedra, (US) between then and the ATP heads, about the future of the tournament, but they still didn´t get a finally answer TEXT
Newspapers here says that it´s possible to change the tournament into a challenger this year and dissapear deffinitly in 2004.
Come on Buenos Aires, keep your pride high!

Thanks for the information...hopefully you guys don't lose the tournament.
So many players on the rise from Arentina right now, that would be a darn shame for them to lose a home tournament.

Latest news: ATP (Mr Milles) will decide tomorrow friday or next monday. Altenis asks for a year of postergation, but ATP don´t like that. The other posibilities are: Altenis put the money helped by minor sponsors or they make a $ 100.000 challenger. Let´s wait
