This of course unless they lose to whoever in the first round. I say Masha pulls through 3-6 7-5 6-2.

Oh good, one of them loses early. And the other loses to Justine in the QF.

I really doubt Sharapova will lose this.

Sharapova 2-6 7-5 6-1.
To make my life painful.

I'll be happy either way. I expect Princess Maria to survive.

The Indian Wells fluke bicycle wheels notwithstanding, I would expect Shrieky's tougher mind to be decisive again. I suppose it's possible that LD might have developed some composure during her maternity adventure, though.

I see a 6-4 7-5 to Maria, with Davenport wasting chances in both sets.

The Indian Wells fluke bicycle wheels notwithstanding Speaking of those, it's always amazed and infuriated me that what most people extrapolated from that match was "Davenport can hammer Sharapova if she's on her game", as if all the close losses were down to Shriek's luck only. But come the fuck on: out of five matches, if four are tight matches won by Player X and one is a blowout won by Player Y, which is the damn anomaly there? I think Sharapova will win again, but god, I so don't care. I am cheering for an Errani vs Kostanic Tosic 2R, and I hope Vesnina or Chan emerges from that section of the draw.

I even remember people proclaiming Lindsay as "the goddess of tennis" after that match. Well, the Goddess lost to Kim in the very next match, and generally went on wasting chances at majors every time she could. It's also amazing how little Sharapova was affected by it. She had a normal, if not fine, year afterwards, losing to players who really played better than her at the time. Not to mention she beat Davenport the next time they met.

It's because Shriek knew that she had a genuine excuse (I heard that it was due to menstrual stuffz...I prefer not to think about that). If you know your excuse is valid, you won't be bothered by a loss.

We saw the menstrual stuffz when she won YEC. So, they can't be too bad.

It's to soon in the season to believe Maria can be trusted again against an elite power player like Davenport. I'll take Davenport 7-5 6-4. Maria needs to prove this year that she's the tough Sharapova she used to be.

God, don't be so boring. And Davenport really did play like shit in her last 2 losses to Sharapova. It came down to serve and mental toughness, and Maria served better and obviously believed more. I think Davenport's service quality will be the key to their 2nd round encounter, moreso than Sharapova's.
