I saw Hsieh at Wimby when she lost 6-8 in the third. She was far from brainless there. Her style is unorthodox and she hits some crazy shots at times but she has touch. She's a choker though.

Jankovic is playing far better than in the previous rounds. Although, this still has the potential to get ugly as she looks frustrated every time she loses a point.

Youzhny is like Ferrer in being able to return bug serves. This isn't fun!

No one touched on one Maria's most noticable flaws: her wide hips and the way her body goes out from the waist to the hip. Which is why she can't pull off a lot of the "cute dresses" she likes to wear as well as Hantuchova, Ivanovic, Vesnina, Kirilenko, and all the Eastern European babes. I'm still disgusted that commentators slobber over her, and compare her glamor to the likes of Pornikova. Anna K had a beauty and sexiness (while maintaining her natural athleticism) unmatched on a tennis court ever. She was an icon for LOOKING HOT. Whereas Maria has much more of a masculine build and an all-around strange figure.
I do think Ivanovic is hot, and cute at the same time. Her figure is gorgeous. Especially seeing her in person, she is so tall and glows and radiates. Her skin is beautiful and she's always smiling. Her happiness makes her more attractive. Whereas Maria looks so stern and serious and frowny every time she's in public.
Watching some dumb feel-good clip on Serbia (instead of watching a Serb play live tennis), I just have to say that Novak looks 10 million times hotter with glasses on. Hot guys in glasses are just amazing. Love glasses.
-- edit: and comparing Heidi Klum and Slutzapova is just not right.

Misha on a roll! Having said that, after he routines Karlovic, there's no way he's beating Davydenko. I give him like 20% chance to win a set, and about 8% chance to win. I hate that Chris Fowler said, "Davydenko doing what he always does in Slams. Grinding down his opponents." Bullshit, if he's grinding them down, why do his matches go by in the blink of an eye? He crushes, obliterates, demolishes, all of them. He takes them out, motha fucka! Nalbandian is the grinder, you idiot American football commentator.
No way Nikolay loses before the semis. Everyone in that section is a scrub in comparison.
...I do think Azarenka could challenge Serena here. To me, Serena has looked super vulnerable. But Nicole will give her a tougher fight in the R16, and Jankovic could actually beat her in the QF if she's hitting enough errors (good chance).

And yeah, I think about 90% of heterosexual men would pick Vesnina over Sharapova. Besides the bug eyes (and men don't give a shit about the face anyway), her shape is more appealing to "them."

Honestly, I don't know how you guys can keep the Chinese/Taiwanese girls straight. It's definitely difficult remembering one of their games over another's.
Fowler thinks Misha/Karlovic is on Court 7. It's not, but come on it really should have been on a show court. WTF does Nieminen vs. Fish deserve Night Match 2 over Misha/Karlovic? Those idiots, no on cares about Americans or Finns in Melbourne. Anyway, nice touch from Misha - he's not coming to net much so he must be passing well, and dinking his backhand well.
I want the top and bottom quarters of the men's draw to be erased and for the two remaining quarters of good looking players to battle it out for a Slam. MMMMMMMMMM.

Whereas Maria has much more of a masculine build and an all-around strange figure. Wide hips aren't really her problem. The problem is that she lacks the requisite breasts to complete the hour-glass. And those shoulders... gah. Shoulders aside, I don't think that she has what you would call a "masculine" build. Extremely skinny women with no hips bear closer resemblance to 13 year old boys than Sharapova ever will. Regardless... if Sharapova dressed for her figure and emphasized the right parts, she could look much better than she usually does. Half of her problem is in the wardrobe. It took me until I was 25 to figure out how to dress hips and boobs. She'll figure out hips and shoulders one of these days.

Hsieh comes back from 0-40 down to hold for 2-0 in the decider. Good fighting!
I know no one else cares. I am recording this for posterity, so future generations of obsessive tennis nerds can learn from the greats: i.e. us.

I am recording this for posterity, so future generations of obsessive tennis nerds can learn from the greats: i.e. us. Last night I was talking to myself for a while. It's important to record these things. Slams are precious. Aza played a brilliant point with a screaming backhand winner crosscourt! But still got broken. She's putting up a good fight. Remember when no one could shop up about the Williams musculature in the late 90s? It's funny now because they look so much less muscular, especially Venus. Perhaps part of it is that other girls are getting fit and strong too, but they've definitely lost muscle mass from their most athletic days.

Why has no one told American commentators that Youzhny does the salute celebration in honor of his late military pops? It's also a smart ploy/gimmick: semi-tennis fans who go to Slams and travel the outside courts or watch it on TV every now and then probably know him as the guy with the buzz cut who does the salute thing. And now he's changed up the motion and added a racquet spin prior to placing it atop his head.
Oh, Jelena. Learn how to serve and close.

74% first serves in for Misha is unheard of. He was grooving today. Or maybe he just took pace off because he knew he didn't have anything to worry about from his opponent's return.
Serena, we can see that you're wearing a ton of makeup doing this dumb promo thing. Doesn't look believable on a tennis court, and we don't care anyway. And ESPN2 wasted so much time showing that (which they could have done instead of a commercial break) that they missed a whole game of the live match. Huh.
