And I guess we'll have a lucky loser since Venus has withdrawn.

When was the last time a Quebecer was in a Slam main draw? I guess Hélène Pelletier or something 20 years ago.

I know it's the first time ever there is a Quebecer in the US Open draw.

The whole of Canada hasn't had a woman in a Slam main draw since Hy-Boulais, isn't it? Canada really needs its own Slam so they can stick their hopeless players in the main draw w/ WCs, as France, Aus, UK, and US get to do. I'm so glad it's Steph who made the breakthrough. I'd have thought it'd be the Woz.

Oh, okay, I had wrong info. As I often do. I also thought I remembered sth about Mo Drake playing in some Slam. Nice to know Sonya also had that experience.

Oh, okay, I had wrong info. As I often do. I also thought I remembered sth about Mo Drake playing in some Slam. Nice to know Sonya also had that experience. Drake made the 4r of the 1999 Australian. Nobody mentioned Jana Nejedly? I think her best run was the 3r of this USO a few years back. There have been several Canadians in Slams since H-B.

Even the horrific Pelletier played the main draw of the AO last year, I think.
