From sportinglife.com, match at Surbiton this week
After a 7-6 7-6 triumph over Neha Uberoi in a stop-start encounter, Keothavong admitted her rival refused to shake her hand at the end and said: "Her behaviour was quite bad. I don't think I did anything to deserve that.
"Maybe it worked because I should perhaps have won a lot easier but it sums up the kind of person she is, asking for toilet breaks and all sorts of breaks at crucial times.
"I'm not that stupid but I have to learn to keep my cool in times like this."

Now I guess I will Turn Against that odious-sounding Neha! She's no good anyway, let's face it. Back to Princeton for her. But first a course at a Charm School. Tennis should borrow the "technical foul" concept from basketball. Portions of earnings and points earned would be deducted for bad behavior. (Just think, jenCap would be broke and stuck in the Hidden World!) ;D

Exellent idea! Of course, Anne could be lying and fabricating.

You might be right, Brinyi. Let's analyze it. First of all, this "asking for toilet breaks AND all sorts of breaks at crucial times" part does sound faintly reminiscent of the famous sour-grapes-Kim-dissing-JHH-after-losing-to-her-summer-2003. And we know how accurate Kim's accusations were. So let us figure out how many breaks Neha could actually have taken. First, let us consider the "all sorts of breaks" following the word "and", which means that these ones are "other than" toilet breaks. We will call this group "miscellaneous breaks". "All sorts of" sounds like it has to be a lot, but we will be conservative and say it means 3. You simply cannot say "all sorts of" if you mean just 1 or 2, can you? Then we must add in the plural "toilet breaks". We will again be conservative and say 2 of those. So we are meant to believe that, at a MIMIMUM, Neha took FIVE breaks -- 3 miscellaneous and 2 toilet -- during a 2-set match? Now I begin to doubt Anne's veracity. ;D But still, why refuse to shake hands? If that part is even true. I think what does have to be true here is that one or the other of these two girls was way off base. But which one? This mystery could haunt me for months! Anyway, that aside, it's getting near time for Anne K. to :shit: or get off the pot. Her grace period following her knee surgery ends, in my intolerant mind, this fall. Then she's got to get to top 150 or else! These British women players sticking around for decades, ranked 400, that's for the boids. Move on, people! Can't you see it's just not working! I should take over the charge of these LTA girls. I would insist on results in a given time frame or a withdrawal of funds. The new LTA motto would be Win or go home! So British, right? ;D btw, what is Jaslyn up to these days? ;D

Wow! I never dreamt the incident would receive that much analysis!

Are you kidding? No pro-tennis incident in years has deserved as much heavy thinking as this one demands! I bet Neha took a single toilet break that threw off Anne's weak concentration. If Anne goes far this week, I'll be darned surprised.

"Dogdriller" (ewwww!!!) of wtaworld has been attending Surbiton and reporting on the matches. Here is his report on The NU-AK match: After a spot of lunch, I then went to watch Anne’s match with Uberoi, which certainly got, shall we say, “controversial” at times ! Anne seems to be in good shape and form though a bit erratic; she’ll play well for a few games then start producing errors to let her opponent back in. She ought to have won a bit more easily than she did, but got the right result in the end. Anyway, in the first set, it seemed to be a definite advantage to be the receiver as the breaks flowed thick and fast. Anne went 5-3 up but let Uberoi back into it; luckily for her the American gifted her the tie-break with a string of errors; I think the score was 7-0 and it might even have been 7 straight errors!! So what could have been a tension-filled dogfight turned out to be a cakewalk. Anne then seemed to get into her stride and went 2-0 up in the second when the first “incident” happened – Uberoi went to talk to the umpire, couldn’t hear what they were saying. Anne wasn’t impressed and made an “Oh, for f****s sake!” gesture with her arms, anyway Uberoi left the court presumably for a toilet break – funny time to do it though, 2-0 not being a change of ends. On return the American got back to 3-3, another spurt from Anne took her to 5-3 with plenty of powerful and accurate groundstrokes and it looked like she’d got things fully under control. But no, a bad service game when serving for it at 5-4 let Uberoi back. Then with Anne serving 5-6, 30-15 and struggling a bit, came the next “incident” – Uberoi again went to talk to the umpire who told her at least twice to play until the end of the game whereupon she screamed “I JUST HURT MYSELF!!!” at him. Much commotion ensued, I heard Anne saying it was not acceptable and probably a few other things. Eventually an official came on to talk to Anne and the trainer to see Uberoi of whom it was announced would now be taking a 3 minute injury break (ie in addition to the 5 or so she’d already had!). Anne v. pissed off. On resumption, Anne held to great relief and applause and we were in a tie-break again. Uberoi went 4-1 up and I feared the worst but Anne found her touch and began pounding her groundsrokes again, taking 6 points in a row to win. Lots of cheers from the stands which then turned to jeers in the American’s direction as she refused to shake Anne’s hand. I don’t think Anne was too bothered though! So a good win, but I think she’ll need to raise her game to beat Granville, but fingers crossed.

To finish up: more from dogdriller: "Anne was 2-0 up when Neha went for her probable toilet break, Neha was 6-5 up when she had the injury timeout - she seemed to be having problems with her lower back and lay on her front whilst having treatment."Then jayakris, a very knowledgeable and always-classy Indian poster, contributed this insight: "Thanks Dogdriller. I know that Neha has been battling an injury for a while. She has been told that she has to play through a bit of pain till that rib cage problem settles back in. I assume Keothavong (excitable firebrand that she is) misunderstood the situation..."So there you have it. As much as I'd love to milk this fascinating Hidden World story even more, I'm afraid I've finally wrung it right out.
