Brie's sister said their family doesn't think it'w worthwhile doing any travelling to play $10ks. To pay all that money for travelling, their view is, it's only worthwhile for bigger events. Which they haven't noticed yet that she is not good enough to win any matches -- or even games -- in. So she's spinning her wheels unless they change their idea that Brie can succeed by following the Williams sisters' template of starting right out in WTA events via WCs, after playing no Juniors. They can't understand why the same plan won't work for their little cheese!
It's exasperating reading Brie's sister's posts. It reminds me of reading goldenlox's posts about Anna K, because they can't ever "hear" what anyone says to them, and so their "replies" only answer something from their own head, never what the other person actually said ... I wonder if the whole family lives in this delusional bubble, or just the teen cheeses?
How many WTA WCs are players allowed to receive, anyway? I know they are allowed 3 ITF main draw WCs and 3 ITF qualy WC's, but I don't know what the WTA's own limits are. Brie has already hogged 2 WTA ones, and it's only mid-February.

Dubai will be Brie's 1st ever WC on the WTA. In Rabat, Bengaluru, Stanford and San Diego, she got direct entry because nobody else wanted to play. She had 2 ITF WC's before her inspiring Diamond Jackson win that got her ranked high enough to not need them.
She can't do this anymore however, at least for Tier II's and up, since direct entry can only be players ranked 500 or higher.

Ah, I'd already forgotten that she didn't need a WC for Bangalore. Interestingly, the USTA's recommendations for their events are that players should be ranked in the top 450 to get $50k and $75K WCs. They also want tournaments to look for evidence that a player has succeeded at one level before they get WCs for the next level. They say they don't want players to "become dependent on WCs". These standards are are for the US, of course, and I don't know if they're rules or just suggestions. But it does explain why WC pickings might be better offshore. Speaking of WCs, I read on wtaworld that de Brito has received a main draw one for Miami. At least, I think that's what this says: Michelle com convite para o quadro principal do tier 1 de miami !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Being connected to Nick & IMG really does pay! But time is short; you've got to step up or get lost. Julia Cohen used to get such invites, but not any more.

Now that Brie has been adopted as a pet by hordes of wtaworlders, it's no fun to follow her bagel trail any more. So I won't be updating this thread any more. Anyone looking for Brie's latest bagel news will probably be able to find it all on wtaw General Messages from now on. You can even hear from her sister, Gouda, there. Gouda is enjoying Brie's new status as wtaw celebrity.

Brie has finally cracked the Top 700. She now keeps company with two-time Grand Slam quarterfinalists:
699 (699) SERRA ZANETTI, ADRIANA ITA 14.75 10 .00 .00 .00 700 (724) WHITEHEAD, BRIE USA 14.75 14 1.00 .00 .00
Edit: Sorry, one-time Grand Slam quarterfinalist and one-time Grand Slam fourth rounder.

Brie dropped 5 spots in the rankings this week to #686. We are confident she will fight back, until that dark day in late July where she has to defend a win.

Now that same person is saying how impressive it is she got that ranking after playing for only 1 year in a half.
Brie next stop is: $50K in Carson, USA. Then she's going back to Europe.

By the way, dolan really sucks; Brie should win at least one game.

The weird thing is, if Brie would compete at her actual level, which is challenger qualies, like she's deigning to do this week, I'd probably be rooting for her. It's this roaming the world to build a house-of-cards ranking that's so creepy. And the fact that her family seems so proud of this paper ranking that owes everything to infinite money and time to travel, and (almost) nothing to the tennis being played, is even creepier. :red: So, go E. Dolan! Whose ranking at the time of Carson entries was lower than WTA rankings even go any more.

I knew Brie really wasn't that bad. Dolan does suck, but she's a step above bagel girl. Negative is that this win does virtually nothing for her ranking. 1 point only.

Brie was fatigued in her loss.
That's like 3 matches in 2 days. She's very not used to that.

So Brie is listening to her detractors and is playing 10K now.
