Nice pic of Albert y Rafa! I still think Rafa s cut his hair though... a bit wild!! VAMOS RAFA [but I like Fernando too... s be an interesting match!] Moya was careless again today... Vamos ALEX!! A hair cut might help, but I'm not convinced that it's just the hair.. lets just say that he's so horribly unphotogenic that short hair would do nothing for him. That, and sadly, he seems to be going the "moya route" with the long hair and bandana. Speaking of which, Th is right when she points out that his bandana's need to be about half the size they currently are. Anyhow, let me move on to things that actually matter for a moment: Rafael will play Umag next week, where hopfully he will get a good draw for the second time in his life (the first being Wimbledon). It's true, Rafael gets AWFUL draws. Almost all of his losses have been to significant players in the 2nd or 3rd round. My USO trip plans are almost complete, btw. I will go Mon-Wed I *think*...depending on who plays Thursday, I might go then as well. I've now seen Ferrero two years in a row (5 times in three different tournaments), so although I'm excited to see him, it isn't such a novelty anymore. I'm going to make an effort to see a score of lower ranked players that I would never get to see on TV. Of course Nadal tops the list, but there are lots of the women that I want to see, and a couple of the younger men that I have heard a lot about but not seen much (Ancic, for example). Hmmm I had something else i wanted to mention, but forgot! Oh well ;D

I actually think Nadal looks quite nice in that first picture. He can wear long hair well, he just makes some hideous fashion decisions

I should point out that Rafael liked being a passenger so much, that he tagged along later in the week when Robredo got to drive it There aren't any picture of that though.

Amazing what a little hygene can do for your looks

Once again, I would like to blame the Moya influence for that.... Anyhow, there were pictures from the car shite with Robredo, but they aren't as big. It's a shame, since Robredo is significantly better looking than Costa, but whatever: Robredo needs to shave.

I was so caught up in my "Robredo needs to shave" thoughts that I forgot the caption:
It's Summertime - MercedesCup Players Drive to Summer Cocktails in Stuttgart City Center A quick trip to the city center for an (alcohol-free) cocktail - the main and title sponsor of the 25th MercedesCup made it possible. The automobile corporation lent players Tommy Robredo and Rafael Nadal a noble cabriolet for an evening out at the Mexican restaurant Enchillada. The only drop of vermouth for the shooting star Nadal: The Mallorquiner is only 17 years old and does not yet have his driving license. That meant he was forced to let his older colleague take over the wheel to drive the brand new Mercedes-Benz CLK 500 cabriolet safely down from the Killesberg, past the palace park and the state art gallery into the city center and back.

Rf- he's not coming to montreal this year... he'll come next year to Toronto, when he has to So does that mean he thinks he's better than qualifying for TMS events this year (aka, he won't be in Cincy either)?

So does that mean he thinks he's better than qualifying for TMS events this year (aka, he won't be in Cincy either)? It's not on his schedule, no...and I have to say that it makes perfect sense. Why fly over here a month earlier than he needs to? The kid wasn't even top 100 a couple month ago, and now is expected to play at a top level all the time? He's playing some German Team tennis thing until Long Island, which will be good practice, I think. He plays a challenger after Uma this week - and yes, I think that this is stupid That, and he has played virtually every week since coming off his injury, and played every week before that. He's put in almost 50 matches this year. That's a lot for anybody, let a alone a 17 yo.

Might I also point out that he DID play qualies this year... how do you think he got into MC? They certainly didn't throw a WC at him, he's not French. If I'm not mistaken, he had to qualify for Hamburg too. He's recieved a couple WCs this year... Barcelona, and I forget the other? Everything else has been done the hard way.

Anyways, I would love him to fly over and try to qualify for the upcoming MS, I just understand why he is not. I'd rather he do what he is doing, and not burn out by the USO.

So I see Nadal has made his first ATP final . . . in doubles, that is:
UMAG -- Croatia Open
Doubles - Semifinals Perry/Shimada d Bertolini/Vanhoudt 2-6 6-3 6-4 Lopez Moron/Nadal d Levinsky/Skoch 3-6 6-4 6-2

Hopefully "No Game Nadal" can win his first (doubles) title now as well. (the no game bit is inrefence to somebody on another board)

It's "just" a doubles title, but still pretty exciting He might have to wait a while for that singles title, mind you, but whatever
