Gnome. Oh well, it's hard to begrudge Cheery Jiri some success.

Oli's cute and all, but it's not right for him to take out one of the all-time greats of left-handed married French men's tennis.

Fabrice is officially announced to play in Metz. I probably won't be able to see him play live, as I'll go only for the semis & the final, but at least, this time, that leaves me a chance to see his matches on tv!

But of course there is an excellent chance that the Gnome will still be around for the semis and final and you can see him in person both days.

But of course there is an excellent chance that the Gnome will still be around for the semis and final and you can see him in person both days. I've learned to keep my head cool! I'd like it so much if I can see him play live, that would be a dream come true. And if he reaches the semis, I'll be the 1st one to But I wanna keep my mind and my hopes realistic. I'd rather get a happy surprise than disappointed hopes...

How can anyone doubt the inevitable appearance of the Mighty Gnome in the Metz semis? He hath smote the fearsome Paulo in New Haven!

Well if, by chance, he plays doubles, that means more chances for me to see him play!

Sure! He just has to beat a guy everybody thinks is a very good player...what's his name again? You know, that one who wins all... Fabrice, I just want you to be yourself till the very last minute of the game, ok?

Oh no, Choupi! I was much happier not knowing the draw! But anything can happen, right? Sometimes even the best player sprains an ankle or something! ALLEZ!

I'm sorry Janie. I thought you knew about the draw... If I had known, I would have posted it differently. But you're right. Anything can happen. And we are used to some surprise with Fab, aren't we?

Don't feel bad, Choupi! It's my own fault for being too lazy to look at the draw! Anyway, I'd rather hear it here, among friends, than on the impersonal US Open web site. Gnome fans

"Winning in straight sets in this humidity is always a good thing. Now I'm thrilled to be facing Roger Federer. For me, he is the greatest player of all time. Late year I succeeded in bothering him a bit on two occasions. I won't be there just to watch him, even if he is the incarnation of perfection." -- F. Santoro (The Gnome slays me! I'll miss him very much when it's time for the Sad RAD)

The World's Favorite Gnome is entered in the Mixed with Golovin. Oops, just noticed, they are playing on Armstrong tonight -- against Paes/Nav!
