Murray isn't really a wuss. He's just very miserable and ugly.

I like the Masters Series commentators. They constantly rag on Wussy for being a wuss.

"I was pretty tired. It was a bit the back, and a bit of lack of preparation on clay. I was a bit slow on the court. At the end, I panicked a bit. I'm not mentally fresh. These matches that get away from you, they are sometimes hard to explain."

After the Horna loss, the latest self-flagellation:
"It was my worst match of the year. I was lost. After losing the first set I lost my confidence. I had a huge feeling of panic. In the second set I was completely empty. Nothing was happening in my head. Today, anyone in the draw could beat me. ... Either I'm very up or very down. I've always been that way. Here I was very down. I couldn't be worse. I was pathetic. I'm not stupid, I see what I have to do, but it's not happening."

Wussquet doubt for Roland Garros Richard Gasquet may skip this month's French Open after claiming he is "not fit to play tennis". The 21-year-old, who is first in the wuss rankings, has not progressed past the last 16 in any event this year and is 35th in the current ATP singles race. Gasquet, the highest-placed Frenchman in the world rankings, is now contemplating missing his own country's grand-slam event, saying in his best JuJu impersonation: "I am completely burnt out. I haven't fully recovered from the efforts I made last year. And I am paying for it at the moment." "I am not fit to play tennis - running, moving, everything is becoming difficult. I am going to cut myself off for the week. Forgetting about my racquet can't do me any harm. "For Roland Garros, we will see. Don't expect a big tournament from me - if I take part in it." "Don't worry, nobody will," interjected his loyal supporter Yi Brin. The French Open begins a week on Sunday and Gasquet fears it could be embarrassing for him if he does take part in the tournament, given his current form. "I am going to put down my racquet for a week. Then I'll come back to training and we will see then," he added. "It is nearly two years since I have had a break. I miss that. "Imagine what I would do at Roland Garros, it would not be nice for anyone." Gasquet, who is 22 next month, won a career-high 49 matches in 2007, claiming a fifth career ATP title and reaching two other finals that year. He also reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon, the first time he had gone that far in a grand-slam event.

He may be deluded in an optimistic way - i.e. he feels he's got the greatest game in the world and that only his lack of mental fortitude is preventing him from winning big. Which is false; his game isn't all that. He's occasionally flashy, but too defensive and underpowered for today's game, and at his worse he's reminiscent of Volandri, only not as good. Ding ding. You win.

How hilarious! Wussquet has become a parody of himself. His wussiness just gets better and better every year. (OT: What a missed opportunity that Ding Ding never played mixed dubs with a new fave of mine from 10K-world, Chu Chu! )

Wussquet has fired his coach Eric Deblicker, replacing him with Guillaume Peyre, who currently coaches Mahut and coached Baghdatis in his junior days and also during his run to the AO final (they split last last year when Marcos decided to hire some dude from Cyprus, a disastrous move if there ever was one).
Peyre apparently took the job on the condition that he would also be able to continue to coach Mahut.
Also Ti-Rich had two hitting sessions at RG today so I guess he will play there.

"Somatisation après un printemps pourri durant lequel Richard Gasquet n'a jamais tenu son rang de no 9 mondial ? L'explication est tentante." -- Le Monde
"Somatization disorder (also Briquet's disorder or, in antiquity, hysteria) is a psychiatric diagnosis applied to patients who chronically and persistently complain of varied physical symptoms that have no identifiable physical origin. One common general etiological explanation is that internal psychological conflicts are unconsciously expressed as physical signs. Patients with Somatization Disorder will typically visit many doctors trying to get the treatment they think they need." -- Wikipedia

Apparently the excuse now is that he had a cyst on his knee. Whatever.
And the ESPN drones go out of their way to defend him, too.

"I don't know what really is wrong with Richard. We'll have to have a talk about it. I think we had pretty much the same type of year last season and both of us are having problems now. It's like the boomerang came right back in our face. Last season cost us both."

A boomerang in the face, ouch! Time for both of you to retire and settle back to nurse your wounds for the rest of your days. Now doesn't that sound appealing? But if Wussy retired, where would we turn for tennis laughs? Cornet won't be allowed to pipe up for very long.

"We don't understand this. It's a disappointment that we learned this from his agent. It's not a decision of a completely responsible person." -- P. Dominguez, the French national technical director

"Richard Gasquet (FRA/N.8) bat Mardy Fish (USA) 6-3, 6-4, 6-2. Prochain adversaire : Grosjean. Le Français a négocié avec autorité et classe un premier tour pourtant très redoutable. Gasquet a très bien relancé (seulement 56% de points gagné sur premières par Fish) et s'est montré très réaliste (4 balles de break converties sur 3)."
If he converted 4 out of 3 break points, I am truly impressed!

"Il y avait des adversaires beaucoup plus faciles. Les trois pires pour une tête de série étaient lui, Ancic et Söderling. J'ai joué deux tournois sur gazon, je me sens pas mal. Je n'ai pas de douleur au genou. C'était un gros match. Je n'ai pas fait de fautes, j'ai bien servi, c'était quand même un bon joueur en face."

You can still dislike him because he was sort of saying the opposite.
"There were a lot of easier opponents than him. The three worst for a seed were him, Ancic and Soderling."

Well, the Wuss Nation expects the ITF's verdict on Ti-Rich any day now.
Apparently Gasquet is pleading not guilty and claims that the coke was present in his system because he was smooching a mysterious woman named Pamela who had just consumed coke. The word on the street is that she is a French waitress, and was one of 4 French ladies Richard was seen with that evening in Miami. Another was a certain Francesca Antoniotti, who was a contestant in the French TV show Star Académie (singing contest show) in 2004.
Pamela, through her lawyer, has published a denial, saying she never took coke during the evening spent in Gasquet's company.
Hopefully the ITF will give Gasquet a light sentence for providing us with these chuckles.
