Be a vice captain. I think its just insensitive to make him hand over his captaincy while he hasn't been playing his best. Talk about kicking someone when they are down That is cruel of them Makes you wonder if they've been waiting to do this for awhile

Sami got SpoFi'ed. www.sportsfilter.com/comments.cfm/2259Here's what one Liverpooler had to say on the matter: Steven Gerrard has been our true captain on the field for some time now. Sami Hyypia has been suffering from the lack of his centre-half partner Stephan Henchoz, and with Carragher out of the side he is also having to cover for Jon Arne Riise quite a lot as Riise attacks up the flank, leaving him exposed. This hasn't left Sami time to do his duties as captain in terms of marshalling the attack and seeing that the team keeps shape further up the field. Steven is a local lad (the Huyton Hammer) and is English. He's a natural leader and he was always going to be the Liverpool captain going into the future. So it was just a matter of time. Everyone at the club and most of the supporters have known this for ages, but how to make the switch when we all love Sami so. Sami has done a superb job as Liverpool captain, and is a consumate professional. Houllier has stated that Sami understands this decision and accepts it. I'm betting it will be a relief as it will allow him to concentrate on getting his defensive role back to full strength and will deflect some of the unfair criticism he has received in recent months. If you look at the game he had last night, I think it's working. He was certainly smiling a lot. I believe it's the right time to do it now because we're having a poor season where we may not win much anyway. Expect to see lots more youngsters blooded this year for the same reasons. It's a brave decision by the manager and I salute it. Allez, Allez Gerard Houllier! posted by walrus at 4:01 AM CST on October 16 I post as somethingotherthan and basically I only parroted what I heard here but after posting in the tennis links, I was looking to expand my voice

Oh, I've only just seen this post Hackie! Interesting, he was getting slated again yesterday by the papers. Apparently he never played well and the exact words used were: "Hyypia has rapidly deteriorated in the past 2 seasons" I dont now why he's become the scapegoat all of a sudden but I dont like it! Btw, nice post

so, reading back this thread things are looking up! Sami's been playing really well for the past couple of weeks and he scored against Bolton. Theres also been no talk of him being dropped or anything because of his performances And, the website which shut down has re opened and I found 1 more team pic At least he is still captain of his country!

He may look good, we never know To be honest, I like his hair short. Mmmm, may be his wife likes long hair. Or, with long hair, his baby (forget boy or girl) can grab him easily.

You know what, I've just watched the highlights and seen his interview and it doesn't look so bad once he'd washed it and sorted it out! I haven't seen him being interviewed for ages! So that was nice. He had a couple of bumps and bruises on his head lol but thats what you get for being a dfender!
