You long-suffering fans deserve it!! After the crappy season it's good to have such a great, big win. No team had ever come back from a 3-goal deficit, either ;D

I didnt know there was a footy thread! What a night, what is it with English clubs and champions league finals? So pleased for Gerrard, you could see how much it meant to him. He was awesome in 2nd half and ET, his goal was fantastic and he inspired the whole team.

Aha, finally found this thread! Emma, by now you should be believing that it was not a dream. Great final. I had to use all my powers to convince friends to stay and watch the second half (we were all big English footy supporters, some even were more Italian footy haters, lol). We had a blast when it finished. Dudek kept us highly entertained during penalties

My God!!!! Im so happy. This is by far the best Liverpool moment in at least a decade. 20 years was the last time we won it. so many times people talked about fate and us winning. I honestly didnt think we had a good enough team to win this competition. I never stopped believing but deep down I didnt think we'd win it. Its such an incredible feeling. Sometimes this club breaks my heart.....other times they make me so happy. omg!!!! I cant even speak. I need to stop crying. This is the magic of football. Tell me what other sport would ever gather (what?) 300,000 people around a fire truck to see a CUP?? ;D Nobody but us hardcore football team supporters know how that feels. My team doesn't win a National Title since 1992. We had a giant chance this year and blew it. Now we have the League left and that's it. But if we win, I'll be jolly bright for a whole decade!! I know how you're feeling Emma, and I hope you have the party we've been desiring you to have for almost 3 years (was it?) since we started talking about football. ;D

It looks like either Chelsea or Man. Utd. will win this year.
Chelsea and Liverpool now play a more Continental game than Continental teams. Pressure begins right at the opponent's penalty area, and there isn't a second of time or meter of free space for their opponents to think or play before they get jumped on by three Chelseans/Liverpudlians.
Modern football = relentless battle for possession.
AC Milan were horrible against Celtic tonight. So passive they looked comatose. Yet they won. Lyon totally outplayed Roma, had heaven knows how many good chances to score, and yet lost 2-0. You don't get this in tennis (last year's San Diego final excepted).

Chelsea through to SF; after being down 1-0 at midtime, won 1-2, with Essien scoring at the last minute when the match seemed bound to go to overtime.
Manchester raped Roma 7-1.

Milan and 3 English teams.

Liverpool vs Chelsea is the least inviting of the SF. Both teams play exactly alike, with the same relentless pressure, so this is a 0-0 waiting to happen unless a 'keeper or defender does something stupid and lets a goal in or makes a needless foul to give a penalty.

Manchester def. AC Milan yesterday 3-2, last goal scored on overtime. Excellent match by any standards, far superior to anything shown on last year's World Cup.

23 May, in Athens. If it's Chelsea and Manchester U. who pull through, it will be a rematch of the FA Cup final which will be held on 19 May. Yes - the SF are knockout ties, but with two legs (home and away).
