Some care about the X-Games type sports. And hockey. And to hopefully watch someone crash in skiing. Besides that, not much. maybe they could throw in a texas holdem event and the ratings would skyrocket. Probably would. The typical American sports fans are really dumb.

I see NBC isn't going to shut up about Michelle Kwan. Which is good, so I'll further enjoy her impending non-medal performance.

Michelle FELL IN PRACTICE. Even though they showed her smiling after her warm-up, she COULD PULL OUT AND IS ALSO DEAD. Hannah Kearney, you're the first American fuck-up of the 2006 Games! Congratulations!

That's the first time I ever saw anyone screw up on the bumpy bumps. She must really blow.
And Russia has already begun their domination in figure skating.
And I hope Michelle doesn't fall in the next 10 days of practice!

I want to see someone fall hard in skating. That's what makes it fun. Or when someone cheats.

Wow. Kim should take notes.
I am actually excited about the one event anyone cares about, ladies' singles. Is there a prohibitive favorite? Slutskaya? It seems wide open to me. Will SASHA VON BARON COHEN ALI G win?

Will SASHA VON BARON COHEN ALI G win? Slut was the favourite, but she's been sick or something so I'm not sure about the status on her. If she shows up and skates her best she will probably win, the judges have a hard on for her. Sasha has an outside shot, but she has a hard time nailing two clean programs in a row. That will obviously hurt her chances. As for the rest of the podium... wide open. And if either of those two mess up.... wide open.

Slut couldn't get the judges into bed last time!
THE HUGHES DYNASTY STARTS NOW!

Iri is still the huge favorite. Even moreso now since Kwan is gone and won't steal the possible preferential judging.

I know that very well! Not that I complain. Tonight is BORING. I can't take half pipe snowboarding as a serious sport. At least until the degenerates there can talk like human beings. And I want hottie figure skaters! And this winter olympics is making me really really miss snow. It's a very weird feeling!

My housemates are in loooooove with the snowboarding. It's so stupid, but it is nice to watch Olympics with friends without leaving the house! All three of them watched the whole thing! But that Flying Tomato is the ugliest person alive. Leena, if you want snow, you could have helped four idiots dig their cars out of a foot of it at my house this afternoon.

I cannot get a picture of the Flying Tomato to post. Actually, that's a blessing.
Yes, AAO is sort of cute. And yes, he is an asshole. Remember '02 when he dicked over that Korean skater? Karmic retribution occurred last night when he got bonked in the semis and Korea won gold and silver.

Lots of Curling on Eurosport! No way Short Track should be an Olympic sport. Remember that Australian guy who won Gold because he was the slowest competitor?

The 5th estate special on figure skating was most illuminating. That is, if there was any doubt left at all that all male skaters are Ballbuster loves men!!1 :hearts:gy-Ballbuster loves men!!1 :hearts: Ballbuster loves men!!1 :hearts:-Ballbuster loves men!!1 :hearts:s.
Typical interview response: female skaters: "I'm motivated to work harder every day and I've had to sacrifice a lot but it'll be worth it. " Emanuel Sandhu: "Umm..like I wanna be a supermodel!" other male skater: "I just get so emotional, you know. I can't hold it in all the time" *starts bawling*

No way Short Track should be an Olympic sport. Remember that Australian guy who won Gold because he was the slowest competitor? Yes But last night nobody fell and very few got disqualified and therefore it was boring. I didn't get to see biathlon today. I'm missing snow as well. What a shitty winter, every friggin city in Europe has had loads of snow, except for Belgrade. Actually it's snowing now but it will melt in about 15 minutes.

Hamburg hasn't had much snow either. And in Southern part of Germany it has been way too much.

AAO isn't cute, IMO. He's not an asshole, either. Well, I guess he is, but it's part of being one of those messed up short track skaters. I agree that it shouldn't be a sport... since like the main goal in it is trying not to fall down. Plus, there's already the exact similar sport, just without contact.

Short track is about the only interesting thing in the Winter Olympics, which blow, generally speaking!
/me also likes ski jumping and cross-country skiing in moderation, and figure skaters when they fall down in a heap
