I never thought I'd see the day that Tax Garbin and Fishin' Hat Santangelo would be seeded at a Slam.

I never thought I'd see the day that Tax Garbin and Fishin' Hat Santangelo would be seeded at a Slam. The Hat was seeded Big 32 at Wimbledon. So now you've lived to see it twice! She lost first round there, and this time... This draw is very boring. It will either hold almost totally to form or go absolute apeshit.

Mauresmo got the soft section. I know it has about a 1% chance of occurring, but come on, Srebotnik to the QF. Serena will be a non-factor. If she beats Santangelo, IF, she cannot possibly get through that quadrant. Hingis' road is perilous. But she plays so well in Australia, who knows? She and Kim may reprise their quarterfinal of 2006. Schnyder has a decent shot at her fourth consecutive AO QF. Actually, Sharapova's section is really soft too. She does look good for the title. If she's as good right now as people think she is, she should win it.

I see the women's draw going pretty much to form too, until the semis when the top two seeds lose to 3 and 4.
#4 wins the title despite carrying 7 injuries and does her victory speech from the hospital.

IrOOda? I dOOubt it. The one I had a tough time picking was Peer-Kuz.

I'm skeptical about Kuz's health. If IrOOda doesn't do it, Peer will, I'm sure of that.

Maria gets another easy draw. Meh. Looks like the Aussies fixed that Schnyder section to get one of their own in the QF... Martina got about the worst draw she could get. Possible tricky 1st round. Stupid Sania who's beat her, Dinara 4r, KIMMIE QF... brutal. Bottom half is wide open. This surface is not good for Amelie. I think this may be the slam where my crazy prediction of Peer doing something huge at a slam may occur.

Kim or Maria will win this. Sveta gets upset early. Jankovic finally collapses with exhaustion. Amelie will be runner-up. Tina loses early and retires.

I love Oracene. Here she is, on Serena: “What she did before the season I couldn’t tell you, because I wasn’t in Florida,” Price said. “But when I look at her, I don’t know. I have my doubts.”

Maria Sharapova RUS (1) vs. Camille Pin FRA - Wow. These 2 play the complete opposite game. Camille might annoy Maria now and again, but Maria should thrash her easily.
Shenay Perry USA vs. Amelie Mauresmo FRA (2) - Amelie was in poor form last week, but although Shenay plays a similar style, Amelie will probably not have too many problems.
Jessica Moore AUS vs. Svetlana Kuznetsova RUS (3) - Unless Sveta is basicallu unable to breath, she shouldn't lose this. Specially has no one had heard of Jessica till last month.
Kim Clijsters BEL (4) vs. Vasilisa Bardina RUS - Bardina might have reached a Hobart final, but the difference between her and Kim is big. Kim is 2 comfortable sets.
Nadia Petrova RUS (5) vs. Tamarine Tanasugarn THA - Around 2 or 3 years ago, this would have had potential for a upset. Not now, Nadia in 2.
Nathalie Dechy FRA vs. Martina Hingis SUI (6) - This looks like a test, but Nathalie is a real mess nowadays. A loss would be close to the end for Martina.
Elena Dementieva RUS (7) vs. Stephanie Foretz FRA - Elena may hate Australia, but she doesn't hate it that much to lose to Foretz.
Madison Brengle USA vs. Patty Schnyder SUI (8) - Very easy for Patty. Madison is completely unheard of apart from some crappy US play off.
Dinara Safina RUS (9) vs. Ekaterina Bychkova RUS - Ekaterina still lives off that 1 win against Sveta. Nice and easy for Dinara.
Jill Craybas USA vs. Nicole Vaidisova CZE (10) - Jill might get errors from Nicole, but not enough to win.
Aleksandra Wozniak CAN vs. Jelena Jankovic SRB (11) - Jelena may be in perfect form for a loss, but even a exhausted Jelena should beat Wozniak.
Anna Chakvetadze RUS (12) vs. Sybille Bammer AUT - Bammer did beat Serena last week, but Anna won Hobart. Anna in tough competitive sets.
Vania King USA vs. Ana Ivanovic SRB (13) - Always a lil worrying when the 1st potential upset comes all the down to seed #13. And it's only a outside chance for Vania. Ana in 3 in the end.
Francesca Schiavone ITA (14) vs. Sandra Kloesel GER - Fran still has knee problems, but she should still beat Sandra.
Alize Cornet vs. Daniela Hantuchova SVK (15) - Dani is suffering with a virus, but Cornet is very young and not at this level yet.
Shahar Peer ISR (16) vs. Romina Oprandi ITA - Romina could push Shahar on clay, on hard, Shahar in 2.
Anna-Lena Groenefeld GER (17) vs. Sandra Zahlavova. ALG has been in terrible form for months, but surely she can't lose to the unknown Czech qualifer?
Marion Bartoli FRA (18) vs. Vera Dushevina RUS - This should be a upset. Marion has a terrible record against Vera, has started off the year poorly.
Elena Bovina RUS vs. Na Li CHN (19) - Elena is still coming back and is no way near the level of Na Li yet.
Anna Smashnova ISR vs. Tatiana Golovin FRA (20) - These 2 don't get on, but Anna couldn't beat Tati when she was 15. Tati in easy 2 setter
Katarina Srebotnik SLO (21) vs. Casey Dellacqua AUS - Casey has home support and might get a set, but Katarina is just that lil to good for her.
Vera Zvonareva RUS (22) vs. Tzipora Obziler ISR - Tzipi is old, but dangerous now and again. But not dangerous enough to beat Vera.
Sofia Arvidsson SWE vs. Ai Sugiyama JPN (23) - Last year I woulda said Sofia would win. This year, Ai will win.
Klara Zakapalova vs. Samantha Stosur AUS (24) - Sam might have got the hardest qualifer, but I still expect her to win.
Elena Vesnina RUS vs. Anabel Medina Garrigues ESP (25) - AMG beat Vesnina last week, but I'll say Elena will get revenge.
Maria Kirilenko RUS (26) vs. Karolina Sprem CRO - Karolina can't keep the ball in, so Maria in 2.
Serena Williams USA vs. Mara Santangelo ITA (27) - The most intriguing 1st Round draw. Serena is out of shape, but Mara is a well known choker, and I think she'll choke again. Serena in 3 tight sets.
Flavia Pennetta ITA (28) vs. Kaia Kanepi EST - Flavia still has problems with her wrist, so Kaia in 3.
Stephanie Cohen Aloro vs. Alona Bondarenko UKR (29) - Alona's win at Luxembourg already looks like a fluke, but, I think she'll scrape past Stephanie.
Emmanuelle Gagliardi SUI vs. Tathiana Garbin ITA (30) - Garbin seeded at a slam! Shocking. But she'll beat Manu comfortably.
Jie Zheng CHN (31) vs. Julia Schruff GER - Zheng will win in 3. That's it.
Eleni Daniilidou GRE (32) vs. Aiko Nakamura JPN - Eleni has very slowly come back into a bit of form and will win in 3 sets.
;D
