I'm on neither side of the fence with Roddick. My fangirlism at MTF was pure trolling. I don't mind watching him. But, he definitely is a jerk. And ESPN's love with him gets sickening. Well then Leelee your Roddick trolling seemed real back then. By the way Andy's a nice guy and not a jerk. It's not his fault ESPN fawns over him. You did miss alot Willow. And you can never recapture what you missed yesterday at the Australian Open.

Oh the bitterness. But answer me this question please: What's worse - having a Serena vs. Maria final or getting a kidney stone removed from your ureter through your ****? Which is what I endured on Tuesday. So there. Maria played very well against Kim. Kim was too passive, and her serve sucks, but that's nothing new. Like Vaidisova, she usually makes sliced serves to the forehand. Serena killed those today and would probably have done the same against Kim, so maybe it's good that Kim lost. The similarities between Maria and Serena are really amazing, and not only because Maria is repeating Serena's from-almost-losing-to-little-Frenchie-to-winning-the-whole-thing feat. They are the only players who really punish weak serving, and only they will really go for their shots when they are on the verge of defeat. In that sense, this final is the correct one. And all the shitty women's tennis is immediately forgotten anyway when you get to see Federer's magic. Watching him will never get boring, even if he double-bagels everyone.

Damn, was Dick's serve really really off or something? I hope this destroys him. His 1st serve % was much the same as in his previous matches at the AO (i.e. a bit lower than his usual 65-70%), but Fed was anticipating and returning at will even Roddick's 210-220 kph bombs. I remember Fed hitting a FH winner off a first serve, and he's not a very aggressive returner. Elsewhere the pundits are discussing if Fed's performance was the best ever by any player. He pulled off the most amazing shots, and invented quite a few new ones in the process. I have nothing against Roddick, but I'm really puzzled when people discuss his game as if he's got anything else than a big serve. Take it away (in Fed's case, get the ball back in play even on the fastest first serves) and he's totally hapless. His rate of success at the net must have been about 5%. And there were times when Fed would slice the ball into Roddick's FH, almost inviting him to attack. "Do that - and we'll see who's got the best FH".

As for the 2007 Australian Open ladies final Maria Sharapova needs to clean up her serve for her to beat the imposing Serena Williams in the final. She got away with some double faults against Kim Clijsters. But Serena is on a major roll and won't let Masha get away with the double faults the way Clijsters did. Tactics. Maria went for broke with her second serve because both possible outcomes a) DF b) good serve that still allows her to begin a rally from an advantageous position were preferable to c) playing it safe and just getting her second serve in only for Clijsters to attack it and take over the rally Losing the point with a DF was better than starting a rally because that would give Clijsters a way to get into the match (Maria made sure there were as few lengthy rallies as possible, and that she took control of them ASAP). Maria was a few times BP down seemingly needlessly on account of that, but it was a calculated risk - she knows she plays clutch points better than Clijsters because she's a tigress while Kim is a widdle kitten. Now I think Maria will lose the final. The Reetards will gloat over this for decades, but I'm more than happy that Maria made it this far.

There has never been a player in the history of sports who gives more BORING interviews than Sharapova. Try any footballer. Anyway If Maria talked shit, you would call her an arrogant bitch. If Maria tried to be cute, you would call her a phony. If Maria tried to be witty, you would dismiss it as "LAME!"

Andy's interview was very funny.
Q. Can you just take us from 4‑All on. Up to 4‑4, you're in the match. Then you got broken.
ANDY RODDICK: Yeah, I got broken. Then I got broken three more times. Then I got broken two more times in the third set. Then it was over 26 minutes later. Is that what you saw, too?
Q. How do you rate Haas or González' chances against him?
ANDY RODDICK: Slim.
Q. You said this week that you thought the gap between you and Roger was closing, or at least wasn't getting any wider.
ANDY RODDICK: Yeah, not tonight.
Q. How much would you have paid in order not to come too [sic] this press conference tonight?
ANDY RODDICK: That's about the best question that's been asked.
Well, I mean, I can't really say an amount because I would have gotten fined, what, 20 grand. Obviously, it would have to be less than that, right, if we're thinking logically? It really wouldn't be about the money; it would be about running away and not facing it.
I would pay a lot of money if everyone would just make up stuff that I said and pretend like I was actually here. That would be fine. My dad didn't raise me to run away from it, so here I am.
Q. What did Jimmy say? US Open final experience, you played him tough, got on a roll. Did you talk about that before the match, if Roger gets on a roll, try to do X, Y or Z, slow it down?
ANDY RODDICK: Yeah, there's a lot of strategy talk. It's not so much like, If you're down 6‑4, 6‑0, 2‑0. We didn't really talk about that. Oops. {lol!}
Q. How would you write it if you had to write it?
ANDY RODDICK: What?
Q. That match.
ANDY RODDICK: How would I rate it?
Q. Write it.
ANDY RODDICK: That was a 10. What a great question.
Q. How would you write it? I was talking fast.
ANDY RODDICK: I was thinking slow.
Q. Your performance here is better than on court.
ANDY RODDICK: My performance here is better than on court?
Q. Right.
ANDY RODDICK: No shit (laughter). If there were rankings for press conferences, I wouldn't have to worry about dropping out of the top five, I hope.
Q. After a night like this, do you sleep well?
ANDY RODDICK: Do I sleep well?
Q. Yes.
ANDY RODDICK: It depends on how much I drink tonight.

speaking of press conferences, I enjoyed this bit from Serena's: Q. Looking at the results of last year, which one in your opinion was the really No. 1? Because you know Mauresmo won two Grand Slam finals, and Henin was playing, and then Maria. Which one in your opinion was the real No. 1? SERENA WILLIAMS: Well, I think Justine, did she get to like four Grand Slam finals? That's pretty stellar. And she deserved to be No. 1 at the end of year. That's no easy accomplishment at all. Yeah, very impressive. [Smart girl, that Serena! ]

Yay, Queen Masha won and the horror final won't happen. Now she gets to lose 2-6 7-5 6-4, having served for the match twice along the way.

I like when Andy gets all negative and sarcastic. I'll give him a strategy hinter for the next time he plays Roger. DON'T GO NEAR THE NET. Approaching the net is fine against mortal players. Because they can't handle Andy's serve, he'll hold 90+% of the time no matter what and going to the net puts pressure on them. But, when you're playing someone who can handle Andy's serve... going to the net on any equal footing against Roger is like him taking candy from a baby.
