Timmy! Vanek up 3-1 on the Frog, is he out of his aquatic depth at RG or something? And it's great to see Myskina fighting back, I want both defending champions to prove they weren't flukes.

Start playing tennis sometime soon, would you Naba?

Oh, Myskina... this one could become infamous. Nalbandian's barely winning points, I wonder if Baghdatis' aggressive style and the fast conditions in Paris are rushing him. I wouldn't have thought Dave would like to play Baghdatis on a quicker surface, seeing as he is unpredictable and will make some flashy, low percentage shots, but I would have imagined he'd have too much consistency for him on clay.

Hmm... 1 winner, 15 unforced errors. Scratch what I said about Baghdatis' aggressive style, his stats are quite conservative, 7 winners to 6 UE.
Nice going there, Henman. First round against a lucky loser and you still can't serve out a set at the first time of asking? This augurs wonderfully well for future matches.

Brzezicki yet to hold serve as he loses the opener 6-2... Baghdatis keeps rolling on, the first seven games of the match, and he's won over three times as many points as Nalbandian. Rosie must be going spare over on that court...

Myskina's on now. I'm waiting for Gasquet

Sjengster We're supposed to have Henman taped later tonight, I believe, if there's time after Venus's match. I'm surprised that Nalby's been bagelled by Baghdatis, who has struggled on clay even more than Nalby himself this year. That will be a big upset, I think, if he wins.

Ouch. Myskina definitely should not have played. This is pretty ugly, and now she's down 0-3 in the last set.
Hopefully Gaudio will have better luck in his opener...

You've got Henman? That's more than we have, and we are of course the Henman Channel - I thought Court 7 was untelevised. I suppose it keeps people like TBE and Judio quiet for at least a day.
Well, that's Myskina's title defence gone crashing down in flames...

Braccali 3-2 Gasquet on serve in the first
Jerome Haehnel is down 67(2) 4-4 to Luis Horna, pretty good showing for him this year
Kirilenko 6-2, 0-3 Birnerova
Christophe Rochus 6-4 Behrend

How about Vanek against the Frog, eh? And, Gasquet... is he about to become all too typically French at RG?

You've got Henman? That's more than we have, and we are of course the Henman Channel - I thought Court 7 was untelevised. I suppose it keeps people like TBE and Judio quiet for at least a day. They keep showing at the bottom of the screen that they are going to have Henman and Venus later in this block of coverage. Who knows if they are telling the truth, this *is* ESPN after all. And they didn't fire Brad Gilbert's ass when Golovin finally snapped him up. Nalby finally managed to win a game, I'm very curious as to what is going on out there. Myskina two games away from being bagelled

Well Vanek is very good on the clay and is usually playing Layla's challenger this week instead of RG but he had some good challenger wins. Ouch, hopefully Gasquet will snap out of it, he really should win that match Myskina has 15 winners to 64 ues :red:

DAVID NALBANDIAN told Eurosport at the weekend: "I'm pretty happy with my form. No I didn't have a lot of matches this year because I was injured but I have worked hard the last four weeks and I'm ready I think."

Fat Dave did well enough on clay to win Munich, of course, but it's been a drought otherwise in the big events and this would be another sorry loss to add to the list...
Layla! My, I'd almost forgotten about her, and her stories about Vanek and his kid at the Ljubljana (sp?) challenger.
Quality stats in that Ascione-Sanguinetti match though, as I posted on the previous page - Ascione only one short of a century of UE. There's even a thread about it in GM.

Please, Nastya, not a bagel as defending champion... Whatever fire she scraped up in the second set to win it she has completely lost. It's really hard to watch her because she's so subdued and preoccupied. Even Jens Gerlach looks like he needs a hug...

Still, when you have a mother who may have cancer, tennis may seem fairly insignificant in comparison. I made a rather tasteless joke two years ago about RG winners seemingly needing deceased mothers, after Ferrero's and Henin's victories, but it is remarkable how many RG champions seem to have health problems or tragedies in their family. Let's not forget that Gaudio's parents have suffered from illness in the past year as well.

I have live Fat Dave Baghdatis
Fat daveĀ“s forehand was dead during the first set, he played like crap, for a while it seemed like dave thought there was something wrong with his racket.
now it is 33 in the second set, and it is a normal match.
He really is in great shape.

Fat Dave did well enough on clay to win Munich, of course, but it's been a drought otherwise in the big events and this would be another sorry loss to add to the list... Munich is like hardcourt under clay dust, I'm convinced To lose to Baghdatis, who hasn't gotten out of the qualifying of his previous clay events, would be a big loss indeed. I'm hoping she will come back soon. This is her favorite tourney as well, but with DiP withdrawing beforehand... Wow, very sad to see Myskina numb throughout her match. Looked like she was holding back tears as she rushed off the court.

6-0 it is. The Chatrier crowd had better not boo her off court... I missed this match completely as Eurosport don't resume coverage for another half-hour.

Sjeng, there was no booing -- just a sort of stunned reaction -- I think her story is generally known.
