They went by ranking exactly with the women's seedings.
Surprised to see Hewitt ahead of Agassi. Players who were granted a higher seeding than ranking include Henman, Malisse, Youzhny, and Verkerk...

Yes, I was just about to state the irony in the fact that they only mess with the men's seeds. It says a lot about "The Championships", as they like to call themselves.

Surprised to see Hewitt ahead of Agassi. Players who were granted a higher seeding than ranking include Henman, Malisse, Youzhny, and Verkerk... No, Verkerk was pushed way down. He doesn't have any grass points to lift him up according to the formula.
