6-4, 2nd set. One more, Roger! woo hoo!! ROGI!! Second set Federer 6-3 6-4 0-0 Schalken Schalken begins the game well with a rasping cross-court forehand return winner but Federer is soon at 40-15 with two set points. He converts the first to claim a two-set lead after exactly an hour on court. Federer 6-3 5-4 Schalken Schalken always looks impassive when he plays and has a stiff action so it is hard to tell whether he is suffering with his injury. But he manages to hold serve to 30 to force Federer to serve out for the second set. Federer 6-3 5-3 Schalken Federer holds serve to move to within a game of taking the second set. Federer 6-3 4-3 Schalken Schalken is again forced to struggle and this time, Federer will not be denied and he converts the first break point that he gets. The trainer comes out to see Schalken - the pair have a brief discussion but the Dutchman does not have any treatment. Federer 6-3 3-3 Schalken Another easy hold for Federer and the pressure is straight back on Schalken. Federer 6-3 2-3 Schalken Schalken is taken to deuce but manages to hold to keep the second set going with serve. Federer 6-3 2-2 Schalken Federer seems to be cruising to another simple hold but Schalken comes up with two winning service returns and a stunning backhand down the line gives him his first break point. Federer saves it with his fourth ace and goes on to hold. Federer 6-3 1-2 Schalken Federer is still playing beautifully but Schalken is doing well to hang on to his coat-tails and hope that the Swiss player's purple patch passes soon. Federer 6-3 1-1 Schalken Schalken flaps at an easy put-away volley on the first point of the game but finally stops Federer's run of 14 straight points on his serve. But it is not enough to prevent the Swiss player from holding. Federer 6-3 0-1 Schalken Schalken withstands some firm Federer pressure to hold in the first game. OK Rogi one more set!!

Federer cruises into semis All the action as Roger Federer beats Sjeng Schalken in the Wimbledon quarter-finals. Latest photos from this match Listen to commentary from BBC Radio Five Live Listen to commentary from BBC Five Live Sports Extra Live: S Williams v Henin-Hardenne Live: Roddick v Bjorkman -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Result: Federer 6-3 6-4 6-4 Schalken Third set Federer 6-3 6-4 6-4 Schalken Federer serves his 13th ace to give him match point - which he converts to wrap up an impressive victory in one hour and 38 minutes. Federer 6-3 6-4 5-4 Schalken Federer overhits a forehand to hand Federer two break points. The fourth seed takes full advantage, winning his fourth game on the trot and he will now serve for a place in his first Grand Slam semi-final. Federer 6-3 6-4 4-4 Schalken Federer begins the game with an ace but a backhand volley into the net followed by a Schalken passing winner give the Dutchman two break points. Federer, whose concentration has sometimes been suspect in previous matches, does well to maintain his composure and win the next four points to hold. Federer 6-3 6-4 3-4 Schalken Schalken commits another unforced error - he has not made more than twice as many than his opponent - to give Federer yet another break point. Schalken saves one but then has to face another and he nets a forehand to leave the third set back on serve. Federer 6-3 6-4 2-4 Schalken Federer again closes with an ace as he holds serve. Federer 6-3 6-4 1-4 Schalken Schalken double-faults to go break point down but he manages to extricate himself from danger. Federer 6-3 6-4 1-3 Schalken After the blip of the previous game, Federer steadies the ship with a comfortable hold of serve, clinching the game with an ace. Federer 6-3 6-4 0-3 Schalken No sooner has Schalken managed to break than he goes 15-40 down on his own serve. He manages to save both and then another and seems to be growing in confidence. Could the match be about to turn? Federer 6-3 6-4 0-2 Schalken Schalken comes up with a couple of winners to take Federer to deuce. A few more errors are creeping into the fourth seed's game - including two double faults - and Schalken takes full advantage to break for the first time in the match. Federer 6-3 6-4 0-1 Schalken Just the start to the third set that Schalken did not need, serving his first double fault of the match to go 0-30 down. But Federer commits a couple of uncharacteristic unforced errors to allow the Dutchman to escape. OMG ROGI'S IN HIS 1ST SEMI OF A GRAND SLAM!! Get a massage, some rest, some food! AND... tomorrow, just go out and handle the Pandy!! I'll be SO nervous but hey, ROGI is the better player! Take that Brad G! My hand is shaking... PMac was talking about ROGI but as usual in disparaging terms... what a jerk... then he has to finally concede to the fact that ROGI is strong and plays fab tennis... so there!! WOO HOO!! Well, ESPN HAS to show ROGI tomorrow... ha ha! YAY!!

Pandy's gonna get all his pep talk from BG but Roger will show them who's the better player. Psyche him out, Rogz, and you're not allowed any mental lapses there, ok? But just do it!!! RF, my fingers were cold when Roger served for the match, lol! Even my mother-in-law texted me and was happy that he's in semis. Bye, all! We're invited for dinner and I have to get ready. See you tomorrow. Roger needs all the support on this very important match. CIAO!!!

ah, someone's been busy! Guess what I caught? ;D not just 1 interview but 2! Hee hee yep, with Mark and Rogi! Rogi talked about jeng and how he felt he knew his game and that he thought that he was the favourite going into the match. Rogi says his back never troubled him at all today! ;D (what a relief!) He talked about hopefully some of the pressure has gone off him because he has never made it this far before in a slam. He hopes everyone in Switzerland is excited and pointed out he is only the 2nd Swiss player to make it to the semi's of a slam. Rogi thinks that he knows a bit about Andy's serve because he has played him 3 times before and beaten him and he says tactics are very important. He also said he thinks he had quite an easy way through and that the Fish match was the best but he wasn't playing his best tennis. But because he has gotten this far he has proved to himself what he can do and feels more confident and hopes to play better. Hes very excited too! Thats my brief rundown lol.

source www.wimbledon.orgFederer Happy to Play Roddick © EPA Thursday, July 3, 2003 Roger Federer goes into his first Wimbledon semi-final tomorrow against another new arrival, Andy Roddick, predicting that this is the match that "everybody's been waiting for, especially myself". "It's a great chance for both of us," he said. "He's been in a semi-final before, me never. So who knows if he has got more experience or not. This is quite tough to judge because we are both quite young. "I think it's going to be a good match. We have always had good matches in the past. I'm really looking forward to it. "It's good to have the potential to play any shot. It's kind of simple against Andy. You always get targets against him because he puts you under pressure, especially on his serve. On your serve, you have just got to stay aggressive. It's quite simple to play a big server, it doesn't matter if it is Andy or anyone else. I hope or I guess that the match will be decided on a few points, a few shots, like it always does with the big servers." Federer admitted that he was aware of Sjeng Schalken being injured and said: "He wasn't at his best, definitely. I think that was obvious. But it was just important to stay focused. It is not so easy to play against someone who is not feeling great. But his game is ok for me, I can read it quite well. "I definitely didn't play super today because of all this talk around my injury, his injury. And all this made us play maybe not a great match. But in the end, all this doesn't matter. I'm very, very happy to be in the semi-finals. It's my first time, I'm happy I took this opportunity. "I'm sorry for him that he couldn't do better today. But for me it's a great day. I have been waiting long for this moment." Schalken said he had had an injection before the match for his foot injury. "They gave me an injection before the match because it was too bad but after three games I felt it again. So actually it wasn't worth it. After that I felt it when I had to reach for my forehand or when I had to stop, if I had to run to my backhand. So I was actually one step slow. Plus against the quality of Roger it was no match for him." Schalken believes Federer will win the title. "I hope so for Roger," he said. "I like him as a person and I like him as a sportsman. He deserves it. I think he is the best player around at the last four and for sure he has the most talent." Written by Barry Newcombe source www.wimbledon.org/
