Venus and Cornet just stepped back on to court. Let's hope they get to do more than just warm up this time.

4 consecutive service breaks and we're back on serve. Venus leads 4-3.

Cornet finally ends the break-fest holding at 15 for 4-4.

Cornet with a real chance now at 0-30.

And now it's 30-30.

Ouch. At breakpoint, Cornet gets a netcord which falls back on her side. Deuce.

Cornet fucks up a dropshot (read: a lob which sat up at the net) and then slams a backhand wide to lose the game and shriek.
Williams leads 5-4. And has now won the match.

Cornet misses two gamnepoints and Williams has the first set 6-4.
I like the spin on Cornet's forehand. Much improved from when she lost easily to Amelie at RG 2005.

On other courts, Krajicek leads Bremond 6-3.

Another poor dropshot from Cornet. Not as bad as the one in the first set, though.

A long, entertaining game where Cornet breaks back and now trails Venus 4-6, 1-2.

Venus overcomes BP to hold for 3-2. Cornet became impatient and made consecutive errors. Ugh.

Williams breaks easily for a 6-4, 4-2 lead.

Make that 6-4, 5-2 for Villiams.

French Horn seems to have had the same plastic surgery on her nose as Michael Jackson.

Villiams v Ice Cream was a fun match. Never really in doubt who'd win but some good rallies. Cornet's a feisty little thing, she's a poor man's Peer right now but if she gets a bit stronger and gets more experience she probably has a bright future. And she can dictate points when she wants, though she only started to do this in the second set.

I didn't get to watch any tennis today.
Good thing as going by this thread, people are only talking about the 26th seed's 1st round match, that I had zero interest in.

French Horn seems to have had the same plastic surgery on her nose as Michael Jackson. I ws thinking the same thing! But it must be her natural nose.

Roger is arrogant. He can be so since he's #1 and great.
It's different when the Willies' do it. Usually after losses. And when they're ranked nowhere near the top.

How is it arrogant? The focus is on him of course; this is the Slam he's missing, he's number one in the world.
Or maybe the focus is on davydenko and no one told me.
