I think she'd know how to pronounce it. Then again I also thought Monica Seles would know how to pronounce "Jelena Jankovic" and she made a horrible mess out of that name, so... Seriously though, since her name in Czech is spelled Šafářová, I think r is a weird sound that sounds like J in Justine, or something like that, and S is actually Sh. Well actually maybe that's how Martina pronounced it. Maybe instead of the "z" I wrote, the r WAS a "zh", like the sound in "Zhoostine Henin", as you say. I'd have to hear her say it again; the mistake was probably in my transcription rather than in MN's mouth.

whats up with this hewitt who is really good on clay?
His backhand even looks like a great groundstroke, and not a changish consistent innofensive shot only good for passing shots

kat and Shahar playing a really schizo match, Kat at 16 50 Kat? Janie, do you mean Katarina Srebotnik? She's best known for routing Maria Sharapova 5-0 in a 2002 WTT match that I attended. Congrats to Safarova on her major upset of Mauresmo. I hope Lucie becomes an elite player because she's different than the typical WTA baseline basher. And I remember that Leena liked Safarova before she was really good. Dina, I agree that it takes too long from the end of one match to the start of the match. There must be a way to shorten the wait from about 20 minutes to 10 or 15 minutes.

Like that hockey player Neckar that's pronounced Nets-cash, something like that... Whatever, it will be Lucie Berdychka soon enough.

Ha, AMG upsets the WTA applecart. And the anti-AMGites. I'll relish the beating Ivanovic is going to deal to her tomorrow.

only morons and moronic serbian trash like Ivanovarated Got me wrong. I don't like Ivanovic, and I don't understand how can people who hate Vaidisova and Sharapova like her. On the Serbian stakes, I'm all for Jankovic.

Lucie's mostly a basher... you can't avoid them nowadays. Except for like Spanish players. And we'll never like them.

I mean not sure Lucie's win was a "major upset", Cat. Maybe ranking-wise ...
Poor Amelie. Let's hope Wimbledon goes better ...

lol.
Q. Does this rank as your finest moment thus far? Certainly this is as far as you've been in a Grand Slam, isn't it?
LUCIE SAFAROVA: I was in quarterfinals in Australian Open.
Q. You beat Amelie there, did you?
LUCIE SAFAROVA: Yeah. Yeah.
Q. So you've ruined her year so far; right?
LUCIE SAFAROVA: But it's ‑‑ yeah, for me it's amazing. I'm very happy.
