I haven't seen much of Ivanovic either, but there's not much to see. Whack, bang, whack, bang. In, out. In, out.

A 56-minute SF. Nice effort from the vaunted Fight Queen.

A 56-minute SF. Nice effort from the vaunted Fight Queen. I don't know. She doesn't seem happy. She might still be hurt.

I thought Ana would drill Maria and she did 6-2 6-1. Maria with her lack of confidence in her serve is in over her head against he elite power players like Ivanovic and S.Williams and it shows in her dreadful scorelines against them this year. Congrats to Ana on making her first grand slam final. Atleast Maria is starting to serve with more power. She hit a 114mph serve today. That bodes well for Wimbledon.

I thought Ana would drill Maria and she did 6-2 6-1. You could have made a decent pile of cash if you had bet on this outcome. Oddsmakers favored Maria by a decent margin.

Jelena, it's bit early to be screaming at one's self.
I'm hoping for an epic three-setter.

I guess the oddsmakers don't know that Maria's serve is the worst of her career. And if she doesn't serve well she doesn't play well. I really see big problems for Sharapova this year agains the power players who can hold serve.

I really see big problems for Sharapova this year agains the power players who can hold serve. I wonder if she won't just be laid up the rest of the year getting over her injury, whatever it is (did they even really say what was wrong with her shoulder?). On a different note, Justine has a will to win not seen since Steffi. She is steely.

The first semifinal sucked which is okay because I didn't mind either girl winning. This semifinal is average at best and the girl winning is gross. Wow, women's tennis really sucks ass right now. I miss the golden years when we had great players in the game (Evert-Navratilova-Goolagong-Austin; Graf-Sabatini-Seles-Sanchez Vicario; Hingis-Davenport-Venus-Serena). Some of the players are still around, but it seems the quality of players and matches gets worse and worse every year. If this is depth, give me one or two chicks dominating and giving us at least the ONE good match, which is guaranteed. This is shit. [/RANT]

Justine is the only one who seems to want to play tennis, it seems. The rest are just there to do "cinema" or whatever. [/2000 US Open]

there hasn't been one decent match this whole tournament, and no I don't count Schyder's almighty choke or Djokovic-patience.

It doesn't look like it's there for Jelena today. Justine is going to break her in this set sooner or later, and Jelena's not making any dent on JH's serve at all ...

Jelena's attitude sucks. I can't help but think the importance of the occasion has her so tightly wound ...
Ok, fought off two bp's now. Can she hold?

No, she cannot, lol.
Justine needs three more games. It's hard to fathom her failing to get them.

Well, Jelena managed to keep the ball in the court in that game, and Justine gave up the errors. Could be a clue of what to do from here on out.

"Jankovic ne peut que constater les dégâts!" (sic) I agree, tennis needs a shot in the arm right now, it is blowing pretty seriously. Maybe King Kolya will be the man to set a fire under this tourney!

Why is it the only shot that Justine has trouble with is the sitter forehand she tries to kill crosscourt?

I finally see what makes JH so tough. She can go either way with equal authority off each wing and she seems to know intuitively which shot to hit when. However, is Jelena ever going to get wise to JH's drop shot responding to a drop shot routine?
